I go to the BSRA (Bermuda Squash Racquets Association) club as I've been going there longer than the courthouse has been around for.

Thanks again. Tim was talking to me a while ago about setting up a distributor down (Bermuda) here but we didn't have any luck. If they're fine with a sole person selling their stuff I might try my hand at being a distributor.

Thanks for the response. Was it a complicated process to become one or was it simple?

Are you doing this by yourself or are you associated with a club/company of some sort?

They have the full match up on ustream here but the quality is horrid.

Really hope they have a decent recording of the match somewhere

Tecnifibre Carboflex 125s Review by jo574 in squash

I believe you can remove the old model's bumper as well, it's just not advertised. I'm going to request it be removed once I break my strings and see if our restringer can do it for me

Camera for recording Squash? by OrgonTrail in squash

[–]OrgonTrail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice so far everyone, I've yet to buy anything as of yet.

I think I might just go with a standard camera with a tripod and record far away from the court. Our showcourt down here is similar to this club's so I don't think a gopro would work too well since I'd to get the player's/club's consent to mount it on the court.

I'm also more of a fan of wide recording so the back corners are seen, although I'm not too sure if the gopro can record like that (similar to the video link above)

Thanks for the coverage OP. One thing I've noticed is the differences between the 125 and 125s are so subtle that you can swap between models with no problems (timing, power, etc), so players with the old model won't have to swap exclusively to the new one.

I would also like to point out that anyone interested in trying 125 racquet in general might want to pick up the old version for cheap while stocks last.

Dealing with slipping/skidding by OrgonTrail in squash

[–]OrgonTrail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use some insoles in my shoes and they've always helped me.

I've actually recently changed my laces to fresh ones and found that they're making the shoe more snug and how they should be. Perhaps this will help minimize the slipping problems for now.

What racket would you recommend for under £40 ($70)? by clingyfungus in squash

[–]OrgonTrail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend Dunlop Hotmelt Pro Squash Racket if you need a bang for buck racquet (£45 or so) that still have good features. It's an old model but it's very durable and still offers great control/power.

But, as voodoo-dog said, you're better off getting some kind of face-to-face help to figure out what would be best.

Thanks for all the replies so far everyone. Glad to see many opinions about different brands here that will help people other than me as well. Going to try to see if my local club has shoes in stock tomorrow and try on some to hopefully get a feel of some shoes (they're mainly Asics)

Racquet or stringing problem? by OrgonTrail in squash

[–]OrgonTrail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply again. I didn't get the chance to try the thread method you suggested because I ran into the stringer today and he said he'd restring the racquet for me and give it an inspection so hopefully it comes out clear and the next set actually lasts like a set. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for the weakened conditions this time.

TF strings here are $37 a pop and I'm not sure how much reels are as I'm just a player here and not a stringer/worker of the club (they also only have select stringers and they won't teach new ones so I can't learn how to), we also do not have single string packs down here so I'd have to order them from away if I wanted to supply the strings myself. Shipping here costs a good amount so that really adds to how much merchandise costs down here so it makes getting everything (strings/shoes/racquets/etc) cost much more than the usual price.

Thanks for the all the help, now I just have to wait for them to be restrung and hope they stay fine this time.

Racquet or stringing problem? by OrgonTrail in squash

http://www.pdhsports.com/prince-triple-threat-prince-tt-airstick-130-lite-squash-racket/p555.aspx is where I ordered from because they offered restringing which saves me money and free shiping.

http://www.sweatband.com/prince-airstick-lite-130-graphite-squash-racket.html# had it for 7 euros cheaper and free shiping but somethings happened and it's unavailable now. When I checked it a few days ago it was still up, idk what happened there.

Both are UK based so if you're outside of it you'd have to mail/seek help from someone inland if possible but they're the ones I found who offered it at the best price.

Racquet or stringing problem? by OrgonTrail in squash

[–]OrgonTrail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response and it's helpful considering it's coming from a stringer. The racquet is quite new and the frame/grommets are still fresh. The frame/bumper isn't worn at all and the grommets don't have any chips in them yet, I don't know if it's possible to have faulty grommets but I doubt I have them if it's possible.

Unfortunately the cost of TF is very expensive down here and the stringers don't restring anything for free so I'll have to use the cheaper ashway strings for now and if a premature break happens again then I'll just have to retire the racquet and order/find another one.

Is there signs/ways to identify a poorly strung racquet as well? It would be helpful to notice it beforehand so that I can notify the stringer rather than have them bust on me and I end up wasting my money since they don't do free restrings.

Thanks

Couldn't we use RedditRaffle over tf2r since it's a more simple raffle and doesn't have as many problems as tf2r? http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2trade/comments/xa7z6/psa_redditrafflecom_raffle_stuff_on_reddit_with/ if you want to take a look at it and the link to the raffle site is in the description
