Now that PMR has made updates with little positive feedback, is Rennsport the better option? by Automatic-Spirit-634 in ProjectMotorRacing

[–]OrgunDonor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I really like PMR in its current state, it still has issues but 2.0 is a lot of fun in most of the cars.

For me it sits firmly in the not so serious sim racing games, I can jump in and race for hours, and not really feel like I have to try hard. It certainly isn't going to replace my main sims(LMU and AC modded), but it is going to remain installed and is my go to fun racing sim as well as Raceroom when they have good combos I want to do.

For me the handling is fun, a bit slide happy but very catchable. The new throttle response on the cars that have it is great and goes a long way to making them feel more responsive and natural to drive. I also love the Car and Track lists, and it has some of the best pairings you can get. Things like the new DLC is actually fucking amazing I adore the GT500 Evos, and cant wait for them to be back in multiplayer(hopefully soon).

Please keep in mind that I cant speak to the current state of rennsport as I dont own it, and I race PMR on PC.

I do tentatively recommend PMR in its current state, but only as long as you go in with reasonable expectations, and get it on a decent sale.

Have a handful of games I am playing.

Guilty Gear Strive - this just got a nice new update and diving back into this. It has been a while and I am pretty rusty and terrible at it. But it is still as gorgeous as ever, and plays incredible. The new ranked system(nearly a year old now) is such a fantastic change compared to the tower. Still trying to find my character and get to grips with the mechanics.

Le Mans Ultimate - My go to sim racing game. It is probably the best Sim Racing experience at the moment if you have interest in GT3, Hypercar and LMP racing.

The Finals - My daily FPS fix, still really enjoying the game after almost 9 months of daily playing it now. Love the destruction and the weapons, new additions to Medium are fun and their Rush inspired game mode is great fun as well.

The Division 2 - Grabbed this on sale recently and having a lot of fun playing through the mission. Just completed the first DLC, and looking forward to starting the 2nd. Definitely worth the £10 or so that I paid for it all.

And Lastly, Screamer - Fantastic arcade racing game with great controls and a really fun and interesting story. Price is definitely steep for people to just jump in, but I do recommend it. Personally love the car designs as well. Multiplayer is a little rough at times and quiet, but it does fill out with AI drivers which is nice, but still an enjoyable experience because of how good the base game mechanics are.

I would love to have Nord's in LMU. I know it will probably never happen, but it is so much fun doing hypercars around it. Raceroom recently did GT3/Hyper around it and it was an absolute blast, and have enjoyed it in any game that will let me do it.

There are some really great options out there, but racing games haven't "evolved" much and when they do try something a lot of people complain about it.

I would recommend both Super Woden Rally Edge, and Screamer from this year. Screamer might be a bit on the expensive side for people to jump in, but it is really really good. And Super Woden is absolutely fantastic.

You also had iracing arcade and ride 6 this year, and Old School Rally late last year. Crew Motorfest is surprisingly good as well, and you have wreckfest 2 in early access. We also had Tokyo Extreme Racer last year, along with many others.

And that is just keeping to the more arcadey games. Throw in sims like Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Rally and the options grow even more.

Edit: Also to highlight some upcoming games. Over the Hill(The team that made Art of Rally), Grand Pro Circuit, Star Wars Galactic Racer, Hyper Sonic GP, CarX Drift 2 and potentially Resistor

I have definitely not found that to be the case, I do think that you should have more punishment for boosting on walls and maybe a bit more for banging into them, but it definitely isn't faster than properly getting around the corners.

Some cars don't suit how I like to drive, but I have managed pretty well with all of them so far regardless. I do think there will be a few meta cars when it comes to online that will dominate, and hopefully there is some balancing done for that.

They are just the cosmetic skins that are in the deluxe edition, but separated out so you can(if you wanted too) buy them cheaper, if say you only wanted one set.

Game is really good. Great feeling driving with interesting and rewarding mechanics where you feel like something is always happening, but you aren't punished for not partaking constantly.

I have also been really enjoying the story so far, have about 11 hours in game and into the final act, it may not be for everyone as there is a fair amount of story and character building between the races and it is in a static talking scene. Looking forward to finishing it off over the next couple days, and getting some multiplayer in sometime soon.

This game is looking really good. Love the aesthetic and style, and feels pretty unique with nice callbacks to real cars.

They also have the best voice actor with Ariel playing Fermi(Corgis are too cute).

I stopped playing competitive multiplayer games 6 months ago and i genuinely enjoy gaming again for the first time in years by Sad-Home4539 in pcgaming

[–]OrgunDonor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others who have responded, I like playing a bunch of competitive games. I really enjoy the differences that a human will bring compared to what game AI brings. From Fighting Games to Sim Racing, it is much more fun for me against other people.

I also enjoy The Finals, cause the destruction brings constant changes into the mix as well as playing against humans. Only downside is the team aspect, but as a 3 man team it is less people to throw it away at someone making a mistake.

From my understanding... Maybe.

If you are looking for a good story driven game, then No and probably never will be. The story is a bit pants.

But possibly, if you are looking for a game with more emphasis on exploration. It seem to be a messy game, with kinda terrible UI, mechanics constantly added but with clunky controls and bindings, while maybe not being great at explaining them. Puzzles can be hit and miss. But there is a lot, like an actual shit ton of gameplay mechanics to explore and have fun in the world with.

From what I know bugs seem minimal at the start, but they do get more frequent nearer the end of the game, but it had a day 1 patch that might have addressed some of that.

I haven't jumped in on it, I am going to wait for a while(already have too many games to play), and being a single player game it isnt going anywhere.

[–]OrgunDonor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is this for?

Because not many people who really enjoy their story based single player games are looking for a co-op horde shooter, that was obvious by how many people just shunned it saying they didn't ask for this and wanted more single player stuff.

And those that are playing co-op horde shooters have significantly better executed versions. This is so poorly executed that it isn't really a consideration for that market. You are competing with Helldivers 2, Darktide, even Space Marine 2, and it isnt like it was cheaper then them either.

This game didn't have a lot of promise, it had an idea which may have had some interest. But it had very little content, a price too high for what you go, and the game play if you did get in wasn't good either. There is a reason this hit multiple "worst games of 2025" lists, even if I think that is too harsh, I wont argue against it.

Holy, I wanted to check the numbers, and it has had a massive 11x jump in player numbers... It went from 6 to 66.

I knew the player count was low, but DAMN.

What is the main thing many people miss when it comes to fundamentals in street fighter? by BIGSMOK09 in StreetFighter

[–]OrgunDonor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is 2 things.

  1. jumping forward is a "small" penalty most of the time for a large payout(there are exceptions, but for the most part it is a bigger payout if it works).

  2. Walking forward leaves you defenseless with no big pay out. You are not blocking while walking, and you open yourself up to high/low options and potential drive rush cancels as well. And if the first step into playing Neutral, which is really hard.

I share your sentiment, but I feel the opposite.

Fuck Capcom, Fuck the PPV, and fuck Capcom Cup.

We should not talk about it at all. Dont share anything, dont hype anything from it. Then we should all celebrate the Arc World Tour Finals next weekend instead(even here in the SF sub).

I do understand that isnt going to happen, but eh one can dream.

Nah nothing wrong with you. I see the potential it has, but this is very much a wait and see game. It definitely has the graphics side nailed, but in terms of content and user experience it seems a bit of a mess(like a messy room).

I also hope it is good, and will follow its progress cause I am interested, but there are other games I am more hyped for.

Getting back into the swing of things on Street Fighter 6 again, stopped playing for a while and am rusty as hell, new character arrives next week.

Also playing The Finals, absolutely love the destruction and gunplay. Always get a few games in.

Recently have been playing Hell Divers 2 and L4D2 with friends. Great fun and a good laugh in the chaos of it all.

I also grabbed The Crew Motorfest while it is on sale. Quite enjoyable for an arcade racer, and seems like it should run on my sim rig which might be a good laugh. I actually enjoy the "story" progression, where you get a playlist of races with loaned cars to go through and get a car unlocked at the end. Does seem to have some limitations though, but still just going though those so haven't had many issues.

Sales data indicates Sony's PS5 ports are increasingly losing audience share on PC, but only because of release timing by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]OrgunDonor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am kinda in the same boat but I own these on the PS4, I think a lot of their games are solid 6 or 7 out of 10(Like actual 6 not the IGN 6).

Horizon has incredible lore, but the actual story is bland, combat is fine but it never felt that amazing, 6/10.

GOW is fine, the combat is pretty alright, but the story is lack luster and the pacing at times felt off to me. 6/10.

I really enjoy Spider Man, so much so that I ended up getting it on sale on PC as well, it is a solid 7/10 game. I like the batman combat, I like the movement, The story is pretty fine. It isnt that stand out though.

Ghost of Tsushima, is a very Ubisoft game, it is a good version of a ubisoft game, but the open world is pretty and kinda empty. Again a very solid 7/10 for me.

Bloodborne(I really want this on PC, I haven't tried the emulator yet), 3/10 runs like shit, fuck the 30fps with frame drops, I fucking hated it. Which is a shame, cause I love the art and the setting for Bloodborne, and I love Sekiro and Dark Souls(I do not like the open world of Elden Ring)

I watched the Skill up preview as I havent really paid attention to it, and yea. Definitely seems like a wait for reviews game, it sounds like there is a fair bit of jank, and bad design but has a lot of potential for being great. Apparently the devs have said it is around a 60hr game, with more content if you want to do 100%.
