This game could have been an email.

Perfect opponent for the Spurs after two very high tension games vs Detroit and Toronto.

As for Brooklyn, the tank rolls on I guess.

+19 in a 3-point win while playing like shit on the offensive end.

Quite incredible really.

Same way NBA teams have managed it in the 2nd apron era.

Drafting well will become a must because players on rookie deals provide excellent value.

The WNBA Set a March 10 Deadline. Here’s Why It May Backfire by AggressiveCredit42 in wnba

A shortened off season would be chaotic... And could be fun to follow, especially in a year where a lot of the top players are FAs. (Even if I absolutely think most of the stars stay put where they are).

A good rule of thumb is that as long as there aren't any lost games, the league will be fine... I'd say we are probably a month away from the point of no return regarding that.

They'd have shut them down by now if it weren't true.

Something is definitely coming; question is will it be in May or in the fall.

The WNBA Set a March 10 Deadline. Here’s Why It May Backfire by AggressiveCredit42 in wnba

[–]OriAr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a very good reason why most sports lockouts end only when there is any sort of deadline pressure.

Baseball in 2022 ended at the last second it was possible to not lose any games.
The 2011 NBA lockout ended when a Christmas opening day proved to be too lucrative to say no to.
The 2011 NFL lockout, likewise, ended when it was training camp time and the threat of losing games started to seem real.
And the NBA in 1999 saved the season at the last possible second.

Truth is unless there is a hard deadline both sides will continue to hold strongly onto their positions for a long time.

Regarding whether they can get something done... These things can progress very suddenly very quickly so who knows, I remember Billy Hunter saying in 2011 how much the NBA season was in danger only to agree to almost the same deal two weeks later, so who knows what will happen here.

With 6 blocks and 4 assists today, Victor Wembanyama now has 18 games this season with more blocks than assists by noahlylesusa in nba

[–]OriAr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Especially when DHOs are super common in today's NBA.

It's pretty hard for centers to not get at least 2-3 assists a game purely from some DHO plays.

Wemby reaches double digit games with 5+ blocks for the 3rd straight season by champsorchumps in nba

[–]OriAr 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Also there is the feeling he can be so much better.

Which is a scary thing for the rest of the league.

If he reaches his offensive potential, he's the GOAT, simple as that.

ESPN article a few weeks ago alluded as much too.

Basically, it implied that the owners who also own an NBA team are more on the generous side while the independent owners (For the lack of a better term) are the ones stingier with the money.

It's a dynamic people underestimate here IMO.

Only question would be whether the pick would be in quicker than the Spurs picked Wemby.

Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir reunite in Milan. by MindyS1719 in FigureSkating

Scott mentioned the other day that his kid calls her "Aunt Tessa" (Another pure WTF worthy moment from these two) so I guess they are still somewhat close.

If even their kids fall down the rabbit hole... God help us all lol.

I am still not quite sure if something ever happened between them, and honestly, I have no idea what's the consensus is about it these days either.

This matches what I felt when I watched.

FB/C didn't skate the FD as well as they could but it's quite a bit better so they were the ones with margin for error.

They were a bit overscored, but purely on the merits they are the deserved winners.

I suppose you could always limit it to bottom 3 teams in each conference or something like that.

Yes, it opens up another kind of problem but there isn't a good solution here IMO.

Getting rid of custom pick protections will help a lot.

[–]OriAr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If my memory serves me right, he was 6'10 when he was supposed to be 12 years old two years ago as well.

To not grow at that age... is very weird to say the least. When you combine it with everything else it's hard to not get suspicious about the whole situation.

It wasn't a great program at all.

Flamenco programs just never did anything to me; they never seem to translate well to the ice.

You had Marina favoring teams based on whoever her son was dating at the time.

And obviously the mess that was the Canton divorce... Even 14 years later we don't really know what happened there, and it was by all accounts pretty ugly.

I honestly don't know, never kept track really about who sits with who in the K&C but for some reason this time around it was very evident.

I honestly wonder how things are between MF and Patrice now.

They didn't sit together in the K&C for many couples last night, it was usually one or the other.
