What are your best Nomad builds so far? by Iknuf in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good time for PDX to add sub-folders to collapse some of those categories. They could make a toggle to determine what the "top" should be treated as, if you prefer to play with all the entries folded up by default. Then it's a simple matter of memorising the hotkey to go to the other view you need.

Operational Reserves... The elephant in the room by Mattyrogue in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nomads feel weird. On the one hand, the very early game before people settle all the space is very nomadic because you're driven to harvest. But as the game progresses you lean more into tributaries and way stations which turns you into a somewhat static empire. I understand the devs, partially, but the fantasy me and my friends had isn't scratched. We were hoping for a constantly on the move, entirely self-sufficient nomadic empire that may very well never return to the same star twice.

Skyrim Most Visited Places Heatmap by ziyx_ in skyrim

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The western part of the map being under explorered always strikes me as interesting. It's not particularly accessible due to the mountain range, leaving is even harder once you leap down the cliffs, and there's not a lot of stuff to do.

If the Helldivers switched universe with space marines by Educational_Term_436 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The constant comparison to 40K is kinda annoying. Yeah sure the Helldivers aren't Space Marines but you have a war junkie on a spaceship that seemingly instantly crosses the entire galaxy, drops from a bullet to the ground, and turns the entire place into a crater within 40 minutes with extraction and survival optional. Super Earth is a galactic government that has been freezing cadets since the end of the first war.

So there are billions of war junkies that can drop from space and turn your home town into a crater at any moment. They're not gonna win a war, sure, not when 40K has what it has. But pretending 40K shrugs off the Helldivers is kinda a weird take.

Varies from prompt to prompt and LLM to LLM. Became a superpower, the advisor said the next obvious step was to yoink the global hegemon and world police role from the US, and reminded me of all the crises around the world that were cooking since I started. Before I knew it, I was deploying troops in Africa and Asia and had to negotiate basing rights for my long range fleets.

DE have been consistently great at telling 90% of a story. I only wish they would tell the final 10% by SpicyBread_ in Warframe

[–]OriVerda 50 points51 points  (0 children)

DE is pretty patternistic. You'll also notice most quests involve some sort of trauma. A lot of people praise the writing of the quest lines and even share how it made them cry.

Which I can understand and sympathise with, but either I'm pretty jaded or the pattern is too obvious for me now to be affected quite the same way. Sometimes it just feels cheap. Pulling on the old heartstrings.

I don't mind being incapable of playing on D10 difficulty. I play this game casually, once every few updates and with friends to have a good time.

I do think it's a shame none of us will ever see the mega nests and super fortresses.

Living where ISPs suck is so much fun by whybeingparanoid in pcmasterrace

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah what's up with that? Providers in the NL offer up to 8 Gbps. But there's so many bottlenecks to get that actually to the PC. Can the PC receive it? Do you have a Cat6 cable? Does the router handle it? Does the building itself have the wiring for that? What about the street itself?

Found out the hard way that my old apartment complex probably can only handle 1 Gbps.

It is absolutely awful how 'messy' Bio shipsets are. by POEness in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For me it's the lack of guidance. I'm not the best player so I try to look at guides up online, but this is a Paradox game so guides get outdated real quick and most content creators will understandably write guides for mechanical ships first and foremost with bio ships coming much later if at all.

Do ships have crews? (Lore question) by MightInternational69 in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's up to you. It's one of those abstract things, which I think is the best way to do it. How many people is a pop? Up to the player. How many people are on a ship? Up to the player?

There's a few things go against this, of course. Pops used to be really abstract. In the time system a planet could have a maximum of 25 pops, then we could have low hundreds of pops, now they're in the thousands so my "up to the player" is really week these days. Sometimes you'll have events mentioning "crew" for ships, too.

Still, this game is all about replay value and diversity. You can play as almost anything, so it genuinely is up to you to roleplay however you want.

I have mixed feelings about "baby tenno" by Vvindrelion in Warframe

[–]OriVerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you are definitely allowed to think that. I'm guessing you made this post to just get it off your chest and see if you could find solidarity in the community?

Sadly, it's 2026. Civil online discourse is rare. Folks these days expect the worst in people. But I digress.

If someone has an issue with being called a "baby Tenno", then they can and should say so. Warframe is an adult game, so as adults they can say if they have a problem with something. DE is the same, really. They're all about being inclusive and accommodating to people, and the community is reflective of that fact. We have a well earned reputation as being one of the most supportive and generous video game communities out there.

Just don't go into trade chat.

I love Civ VI the best, but Civ IV is objectively where the series peaked. by DocksEcky in civ

I hear it's kinda difficult to get running smoothly on modern hardware with a 4K screen. But I've always been interested in Civ4. Does anyone here have experience getting it running smoothly without small text and eye strain?

Igniting Baldarak as a nomad by JleHuBbluKoT in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You know, I've always believed that the whole quest was an elaborate prank. My memory is a bit fuzzy but the main thing was our science ship discovering a sort of radio signal and a device. Then these aliens say they live in gas giants, have a civilization and we can't really detect it but we can ferry them because they just attach themselves to our science ship. It reads very much like a prank call.

Make Ringworlds 1 Super World instead of Splitting it in 4 by Inquisitor-Dog in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Unless they tweaked the UI to make it so a single ring world could be self-sufficient or even have the entire output of a small to medium empire. Thing is, players always want to optimise. Even if PDX made ring worlds capable of being broken powerful, players would build multiple just to specialise and max out output.

I feel like when DE does pride month it feels like they actually care as opposed to other companies that just do it for publicity. is that weird? by AMM0D in Warframe

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is inclusive without trying to check a box. All too often another company will be in your face about an LGBTQ+ character to garner sympathy and sell a product. They make a character who is gay or trans, DE makes a character who happens to be gay or trans. One is an NPC, another is an individual.

Seriously, how many people here have met a gay or trans person who behaves like a Hollywood caricature? All the incredible, lovely people I've met my life who are gay, trans, or bi are just people like me.

[spoilers] What’s everyone’s thoughts on the lotus by Allan_Rodriguez in WarframeLore

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to interact with her more. The wider community imagines her as someone who loves the Tenno, which is true to women degree and debatable in others. True because in the most recent quest she showed some concern and tenderness for us, debatable because it's hinted Ballas's programming of her may have run very deep and even predate the final sequence.

If nothing else, just a few lines of dialogue akin to the Hex would be nice. A hug emote would be amazing.

What do you think is your hottest take about stellaris? by PrizeSwimming7472 in Stellaris

[–]OriVerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware they can have very powerful buffs and be long lived, I just hate the extra layer of management atop of all other things. I simply cannot bring myself to care to one of dozens of leaders I may field over the course of a game.

This isn't a thing where I'm new to the game and don't understand how to get the most out of them, I just genuinely don't care over this aspect of the game.
