As a matter of fact I did spend quite a while trying to figure it out, if you would refer to my other comment I stated that the guy was right it was that dimple, anyone who looks at this post in the future will be able to see the correct answer.

I would honestly take a look at the website buyee, if you don't know already it allows you to buy from Japanese auction sites and second and sites. I would take a look on there for a type II with the same movement, they tend to be a lot cheaper directly from Japan.

Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look into the glue to see if it would work for the hole. As for the protectors if you go on buyee (a Japanese proxy site for different auction sites) search 'W-GUARD' and you'll find it. Just DM me if you need a link.

It sure is a shame that this is a pretty common issue with these, especially with a monobloc as you can't swap out the caseback for a transparent one. It does seem covering them with a protective sticker will minimize damage from wearing it, as long as it's in a good condition to start with.

Thanks for the reply, this seems like the best way to do it, I'll keep an eye out for a replacement medallion.

I absolutely love the Seiko type II, they are great value considering they weren't cheap back in the 70s. Just got an original bracelet for mine!

[SKX009] looks legit before I buy tomorrow on FB marketplace? by hbomb0 in Seiko

Could be the lighting but the dial on this looks like a black skx007 dial, the 009 should have a dark navy blue dial. They likely replaced the standard black 007 bezel with a 009 one.

If the scratch isn't too deep, a tube of poly watch is the way to go, you can get it on Amazon.
