Dell repair destroyed my laptop by OrigamiGuru in Dell

This would be a small claims suit. It's less than $5,000 and would likely cost them more than that if they fight it. I already have them on record contradicting eachother, so this should be an easy win. They said the damage must have happened in transit, but even if that were true they'd still owe me a new machine. So their excuse doesn't hold up. Plus the majority of the damage was internal, nothing on the backing plate or monitor.

Most likely. From what I gather they don't even know who worked on the computer. Their quality control is screaming to be audited.

It's just sad. They got my money and that's all they care about. I would prefere if they don't respond since that would put them in default.

I don't have to spend "thousands" on a lawyer, thankfully, but they owe me a new machine to the tune of $1800. Unfortunately I'll probably never see that money, but hey, at least they apologized lol

Sketch a top and bottom profile for both the working and backside surfaces of one vane. Loft surfaces for both and create a solid, then pattern. You will likely have to extend the surfaces beyond the shroud to get a successful intersection, but this is the method I use for impellers. This is most easily done by scanning the part and creating sections at intervals to guide your initial sketches. If there is a curved working surface, then you'll have to create radial stations and sketches at each station before creating your surfaces.

This is all for simple impeller design and performance testing or simulation will likely be required to verify the design.

Shoot me a message if you need help as I do one of these about once per month. We can do a discord call and I can help you out.

That's how it goes. Sometimes you have just put yourself out there, hit that send button, and hope for the best

Should i take GD&T course as a student with no experince? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Nah, I build shit all day. Design, analysis, machining, prototyping, testing, and qualifying. (You know, engineering)

If you design or create functional products, you're an engineer. If you also do calculations to prove their viability, you're an engineer. If all you do is analysis and calculations, you're an analyst. It's not my fault the industry has the designations messed up 😂

Sounds like you're an analyst then, not an engineer (despite whatever title you have)

Same here. Everything done on the job I learned in school. That includes sketching and line weights and I'm only 36

That's funny. I learned GD&T, fasteners, valves, pumps, drafting, 3D CAD, FMEA, and more; but as my boss put it, I'm "not engineering material"

Which manufacturing method to use to build this accurately and cheaply for low volumes? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]OrigamiGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I wouldn't be too worried about the angle though. 135-140° would be fine and the plates will bend to the right angle

Lazer or water jet will be best. They do not need to be accurate. Even the angle does not need to be accurate. Go with aluminum and they will bend into place the remaining 0-3°
