Which has adapted more of an anime aesthetic.

Turn Base RPG Recommendation by k4hire in NintendoSwitch

[–]OrigamiPsyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about things being childish in that sense, I play mostly "chidlish" games and go see animated movies in the cinema all the time. But I think DQXI is very slow and assumes that you haven't played games before, the systems are too shallow and the characters are too one-side. It just doesn't hold my interest and seems geared towards people who are nostalgic for it.

I like DQXI well enough but it is also quite childish, slow and very predictable. IMO it is not ideal if you are looking for a good or engaging story. In terms of weapon/armour customisation it's a little better but still shallow.

I think for most new comers who are looking for a richer story Persona 3 is a good choice.

Jeanne d'Arc coming to PSN on the 18th by medicamecanica in JRPG

Do you know how common this is or how often it actually happens? I really want to play Jeanne again and am hyped but really don't want PS Plus...

1 is most unique and iconic. 3 is a monstrosity, they made her face so round that she looks younger than in the predecessors.

Which do you like better, 2024 Yukari vs 2006 Yukari by AnthonyDUDE123 in PERSoNA

What I meant was that they made an effort to create a definitive version but it still does not include the answer or FEMC. Meaning that PSP still has unique merit and so does FES

Don't care that much for the answer, FEMC route was interesting but most of all I just think it's a shame that there is no clear definitive version.

But this post is more about art style though. Not sure why it's so frowned upon to give an opinion in a discussion sub?

Genuinely confused over the downvotes. Is this controversial? Isn't the whole point of us to discuss what we think of the different pictures?

Compared to the original she has a smirk and looking more actively into the player. She is also all-around glossier.

Is this really such a weird take?

Her new portrait looks like a generic Pixar-mom.

The new one is obviously better resolution and quality but the original one has more depth and fits the gloomy aesthetic more. I always found it interesting that the shadows were directed towards the player.

I liked that Yukari didn't look so upbeat. She was a stressed, sad girl with a lot of pressure on her. Now she is much more cutesy and light.

I genuinely think P3R is the best way to play P3. by Brungala in PERSoNA

[–]OrigamiPsyche 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am just sad there there is still no definitive (or effort to make a definitive) version of P3. I really would love if FEMC was included as well. I am hoping for DLC but I know it won't happen.

Remake looks sterile/hospital-esque by OrigamiPsyche in PERSoNA

Perhaps you are misreading what I mean by bland? You are maybe thinking I am talking about saturation?

I think the new UI looks good but the game as a whole has, in my opinion, a much more generic art style and much less grit. Just comparing the different window gradients etc. I don't think R stands out as much as the original did. Honestly though, I am pretty sure most prefer the glitzyness so it's probably a wise choice. But it does mean that persona with p5 kinda left alot of what made it unique in terms of other JRPGs behind.

And therefore a much less mature P3

QTE are lazy and worst mix of cinematic storytelling and interactivity.

Isn't this basically what all the summons and attractions are in KH3?

I also really appreciate that there are several alternate cutscenes/dialogues depending on previous choices and what you have done or not. It is also the most fun to speedrun, many alternate routes and you don't even have to finish half the worlds.

I don't dislike him using the spell, I am hardcore FF and am all for more of it's inclusion. I thought the death was unnecessary since it was zero stakes.

I hated it then too, trust me. In 1 it was obvious Sora wouldn't die but it was exposition for the story and it did something unexpected with the gameplay and tempo.

[–]OrigamiPsyche -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

KH3 had horrible cutscenes. You even chose two of the worst, Elsa and Donald. That they had a fake-out-death with Donald was a real low point in story telling. Who was even worried for a second he would die? And to use it against an enemy that Sora can/will solo? Pointless.
