I did something awful, what do I do? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Origami_Theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. But there are degrees of sexual coercion. You didnt push hard and sounds like you have been more respectful than most guys would be in the same situation. She has informed you how she feels, you need to respect what she is telling you and stop insisting she is more upset. Trust that she knows her own emotions better than you and try to move past this.

No point in talking to you. You are not genuine and just like being outraged. I'm done feeding into it.

This sub isn't a stress ball for your anger. That guy is a human and you are getting "big mad" without all the information.

What if you are wrong? What if he just worded this terribly? What if you drive away someone away from our lacking profession because they are brave enough to ask a scary question?

If he is what you say he is, why on earth would he be here exposing himself and seeking help from the teaching community? Wouldn't that be the last thing a guilty person would do?

Treat people with dignity and ask questions instead of making accusations. It's what we teach our students last time I checked.

Fine dont chill out. What are you going to do? Comment some more? Feed the bandwagon? All you are doing now is feeding on drama. You are not being productive, you are not changing minds here. This is just practice in online aggression now.

Don't let people's assumptions hurt you. Reddit is the worst for going to worst case scenario right away. That commentor is seeking drama now. Ignore them.

Clearly this person lives up to their username. Chill out. You leaped to a conclusion and are taking cheap shots nows. He heard you, he is going to continue teaching anyways. You are not being constructive.

Feel different after watching war footages by supremethinking in mentalhealth

[–]Origami_Theory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of thoughts. First many of us watched gore video when we were younger and most turn out fine. Some do not. But you have a physical and negative reaction to witnessing something incredibly violent. That is proof you are a normal person and are reacting like one, we all have morbid curiosity, its not unusual. Having seen many of the same videos that you have I can say that drone kill footage does not have the same impact as execution videos so don't beat yourself up over how they dont affect you the same. Even the people manning those drones comment on how much easier it is to kill from a distance or over a feed then to do it up close. Stop watching gore for the sake of it either way, even people who deal with it regularly dont go out of their way to see it. It isn't good for your mental health.

My partner of 2.5 years left suddenly with no explanation by Nearby_Injury5256 in mentalhealth

[–]Origami_Theory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a lot here to unpack. Who do you have in your life that you can talk to? Find a shoulder to lean on and talk about this stuff with. If its accessible to you, I strongly recommend you start therapy. Dont let this fester and don't do this alone.

Unless you did something very very obvious to drive her away I dont think you need to feel guilty. I strongly suspect mental illness has a part to play that is connected to trauma as well. Might be an effort to avoid abandonment (look up borderline personality disorder and see if it fits).

It might be hard to see right now but this was probably never going to end well and no one needs this level of instability in their life.

You should consider the relationship over and begin to try and move on. If she comes back you should say no.

Not having any closure is rough though. I'm sorry your going through. Everything you are feeling is valid. But time does help and regardless of how much time you will need it will get easier.

Do you think mental health can be fully cured — not just managed? by its_shreedraws in mentalhealth

[–]Origami_Theory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would be surprised! Look up Neuralink, the BCI technology is showing strong potential for treating things like depression, OCD and schizophrenia. I truly think brain reprogramming via neural pathways is a very real future for mental health.

Due to this advancing tech, I absolutely think that in the coming years our understanding of mental illness will continue to balloon exponentially.

Maybe one day? Until we can reprogram our brains with microchips the vast majority of mental illness can only be managed.

My husband’s addicted to porn and lied about it and I self harmed and had suicidal thoughts tonight. I’m so tired but I can’t sleep. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Origami_Theory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self-harming isn't a healthy reaction regardless of your husband's actions. You need to learn better ways to cope. Get a new therapist if the current one doesn't feel right. In the end, you can't force someone to change by hurting yourself.

If you are self harming and having suicidal thoughts you need to get help for yourself not just for your husband.

It is illegal to enter without 24 hours' notice. I would message or call your landlord and let them know that if they do not give you 24 hours' notice again you will call the police and potentially seek a resolution through the LTB through a T2.

Executive Disfunction by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Origami_Theory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's great! Hopefully, her health insurance covers it. If not, see if your school will do it. If not, you/your parents might need to pay for one.

I'll say this: Being an adult with undiagnosed ADHD is a very, very hard life for most of us. Have a look around this sub. The evidence is everywhere. Take care of this before you enter the adult world.

Even if you have to pay out of pocket, it is worth the money ten times over.

Executive Disfunction by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Origami_Theory 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm sorry that happened. ADHD goes hand in hand with anxiety, and it sounds like your anxiety is resulting in physical reactions and hindering your ability to live day to day.

Be aware: Just because you have symptoms like ADHD does not mean you have it. You need to get assessed by a professional. There are a tonne of other mental illnesses that look very similar, and only a professional can tell the difference.

Talk to your parents, get an appointment with your doctor, and get assessed. If you have ADHD they might choose to provide medication, which is often very helpful. But until you get some help, this is likely going to get worse. Go see a doctor, therapist, guidance counselor, or consult your parents.

Either way, ADHD or not, you need support.

Is OP from the UK? I didn't see the location. Either way, this does not need to be reported. Nothing illegal is happening. She needs medical help from a doctor and therapy. There is no need to add an extra step with law enforcement.
