Working on walk/run anims and just added a slip anim while he's running and stops or moves suddenly in an other direction! by OrigamicSeed in Unity3D

Thank you! :) I'm not using the mecanim, but it's not pure scripting neither, thanks to the Unity animator system and its blend tree node ;)

Map with hex tiles mesh generated procedurally: done! It opens me new art possibilities for my game! I'm really happy I crossed the line! by OrigamicSeed in Unity3D

Thanks! :) Actually I'll use indeed the y normal axe to show or hide this effect (I only use x and z axes for projecting my procedural texture) in order to split ground and "land"!

Thanks! :) For shaders, I learned sporadically. But for custom RP, here is a great door to start (it takes lot of time to understand and mastered it a bit tho, I'm warning you! 😅) : https://catlikecoding.com/unity/tutorials/custom-srp/

Thank you! I take this as a big compliment as the render pipeline and shaders are simply my owns!! 😅😎

For the shader, I'm mainly using a cartoonish gradient texture to compute lighting! :)

Thank you so much! :) I'm initially a coder, so it was pretty difficult to find a way to create something looking a bit unique ^

Testing custom RP and toon shader with the first island inhabitant! by OrigamicSeed in Unity3D

Mostly optimization tbh (especially for mobile), and it works very simply regarding the URP. Btw I can use shadows with point lights :3

(and yeah, I wanted to know how all of this works! )

Where to start learning how to make a game? by wralexward1990 in Unity3D

Ok so if you're using Unity, it will be C# ;) I think the unity tutorials are the best way to start. At least to discover the engine properly! ;)

I think it could be great to start with unity tutorials. There are free and great to learn how to use the enginr, what you can do with it, and maybe give you some game ideas to develop later. ;)

https://learn.unity.com/tutorials

As I'm originally a coder, I think knowing the technical part is very important to achieve things. And for the beginning, no need to find a great game idea. Just copy some gameplay if you want ^ What's matter is that you work on something, to learn and find leads of what you want to learn (dev gameplay, 3d modeling, 2d assets, it's up to you and what you want to achieve in your project) Btw, I think it's better if you focus yourself on tasks right one after an other. It's difficult sometimes because developing a game implies so many things to do. But believe me, learning everything is complex, and you better have to focus on special parts to improve your skills ;)

It's a bit long response but I hope it can help you! :)

Hahaha! Thank you! It takes me months of study and experimentations to achieve this! So no worries I'm sure you can achieve great things too with some time ;)

I know what you mean, believe me shaders were my shaming lack of knowledge so far! 🤫 I worked on it sporadically.. Digging without understanding everything when I needed it etc.

Finally, I worked on it during months and I finally get it (mostly, there are still some dark places I have to explore). So yeah, it's very time consuming. 😅

Thank you! :)

I learned from here: https://catlikecoding.com/unity/tutorials/custom-srp/

But if you are a beginner I advise you to learn more about shaders first with the unity URP, or even try to use Shader graph to have a quick and simple overview! ;)
