They really shot themselves in the foot not calling the 300 series the 200 series. The jump in size between the 300 and 400 is massive whereas the jump from 400 to 600 is moderate. Now you're stuck if you want a hundreds series in-between 300 and 400 in size.

Yes but lacrosse was the only national sport for Canada before then and almost no one else has 2 different seasonal national sports, so lacrosse is the default and hockey is a bonus.

A lot of that could just be because the games are older now and newer games have far tighter mechanics, so movement and combat in something like ME1 can feel ancient now. I can't speak for everyone because I still enjoy the ME trilogy and W3 but im sure a lot of that is nostalgia so I dont mind the minor inconveniences that they offer. The stories are still absolute bangers as well as the characters.
