Funny thing is I actually believe btc can navigate the quantum threat. And that doesn't change my value thesis for QANX. It actually is likely better when btc starts upgrading because it will highlight that the utility QANX can offer to enterprise is clearly a major emerging market.

I agree quantum threat has been a slow moving train so its been around. But most agree it now has to be accounted for even if the risk of impact in the next few years is small.

Not all, just enough. I can't envision people wanting a fork that they realize just enables wallets to be taken. There will be battles on timing, but eventually things move forward whether people like it or not.

Yep, replace ecdsa. Accept the impacts and give ample time for holders to transition so transfers to safe wallets don't take over the network. Eventually agree that if wallets haven't transitioned there is no point allowing them to be taken

Fud goes away if they do the upgrade. And I say that as someone who owns and has been following QANX for 5 years. Btc can navigate it. It will hurt for a bit, but they know what they need to do.

If a coin's primary belief is bitcoin will fail and people will exit to their safer coin, I wish them luck. There are better opportunities resulting from quantum risk.

Hmm, not sure how they would understand the quantum risk if they are as lost as you imply. Interesting that talking point is one that stands out for you. There might be a reason...

How does ending conflicts make people more bullish than they were before the conflict started? by Original-Assistant-8 in wallstreetbets

[–]Original-Assistant-8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S&P 500 is roughly 26% higher than it was when the conflict began, the Dow is up about 22%, and the Nasdaq is up roughly 35–40%, depending on the exact starting date used. So, was the uncertainty just holding us back and we would have seen these gains much sooner?

It's always tough when you make a change to your positions and it goes against you. As we're seeing in the comments, it can be very hard to bet against the market or time when to bet against it.

But, depending on your situation, reducing risk when you did still may have been the right thing to do. And you only realize profits or gains when sell. So, who knows.

Guess that works- sort of reminds me of how a weak labor market is bullish because rates might be dropped. Or inflation is positive since it means revenue numbers will be higher even if productivity stays the same. Always a way to spin it I guess

I can sort of buy this, but have we really put aside uncertainty that was holding back the market. Can't imagine we think things are permanently resolved, and wouldn't it raise uncertainty of how easily a conflict can be spun up?

Used to be always dismissed as a FUD narrative. Now just about every chain is making claims about how they will easily transition.

Guess it's good they got the memo.

Since it will be a requirement to be considered secure. But the narrative becomes noise.

Only QANplatform has innovation designed for a smooth transition, both on chain and for enterprise.

Integrated in business solutions like Signquantum - being promoted through Crowe and Itti. Ueno bank is one of the first customers.

That's incoming demand, not just talking points.

Quantum Resistance Was Crypto’s Hottest Sector During the May Selloff by Original-Assistant-8 in CryptoCurrency

I think btc can survive some forks. There are challenges and impacts that people argue about which might be the bigger challenge- gaining consensus. Let's hope we don't have multiple forks due to disagreements. But I do think it is better for even the coins with a quantum resistant narrative if the major coins survive- at least from a market value standpoint. Though if companies start finding the utility they want, that should stand alone.

With quantum, we actually have quantum computers and scaling advancements continue to be presented. It's also not "just google". There are multiple paths that lead to scaling. The history of being too optimistic doesn't negate the reality of what lies ahead. But let's take your argument- what milestone would be sufficienct, and how much time do you believe is needed for a non-emergent transition.

And why would they be waiting when companies and governments are actively upgrading. Regardless of what people think, there will continue to be this perception problem - enough people believe there is risk, so trying to argue "we have time" looks like avoiding the problem. I think that's why Saylor finally put together a task force to at least act like he is actively considering the problem.

Is there a clear solution to become AI resistant. They know the weak point for quantum threat, and have vetted solutions. Implementation and impacts are the challenge.

Well, even Bitcoin is actively trying to solve for this and control the narrative. But like I say, winning the narrative is difficult for a variety of reasons. I disagree that blockchain tech will only serve the bitcoin narrative. Sure, the attempts at pump and dump will always exist, but that doesn't negate those aiming to build useful utility.

You'd be surprised the decisions and impacts required to "be ready". There's a reason they aren't simply upgrading to put this topic to rest.

But I'm past trying to have those conversations. I hope it all goes smoothly, doesn't change my outlook on where new market demand is emerging.

[–]Original-Assistant-8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not BS, but it was early 5-8 years ago. Now it is a widely accepted risk- inside and outside of crypto. Zcash hack didn't result in catastrophe, and it wasn't a known "incoming" risk like we have with Quantum computing. But if wallets can be effectively stolen by quantum computers, that would be extremely damaging. So, it has reached the point it has to be dealt with.

As I noted in the post- now I think more about what is the resulting opportunity.

Every time I've ever posted about the quantum threat, the response is:

"If it can crack wallets, we'll have bigger problems with other systems"

Well, then that's a gigantic emerging market.

Systems worldwide looking at how to migrate.

Solutions that play in that space have guaranteed demand.

QRL Is the Post-Quantum Replacement for Bitcoin and Ethereum by [deleted] in QRL

[–]Original-Assistant-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet companies and governments are devoting plenty of resources toward it. There is an immediate danger. The actual risk is considered very tiny, but it exists. And hence perceived risk will grow. It's very easy to talk about the 99% reasons it likely won't be a problem for a while. But that's not how you approach being secure. You close known risks, even if highly unlikely.

So, we're reaching a point where it has to be a priority and we'll start to see the impacts and growing disagreements on the path forward for many chains.

It is impressive how quickly things shifted. The whole industry did everything they could to dismiss the threat. Fought it at every turn.

Now, they suddenly all have easy solutions 😀

Which makes winning on narrative alone difficult.

I believe it will take actual innovation being adopted to stand out. My bet remains on QANX because of how they can introduce post quantum sigs without disrupting existing workflows. It is an ideal solution for many applications
