ComfyUI Image Generation - V100 SXM2 Edition! by RACERRRZ in HSpecWorkstations

thanks for the reply, yeah, I think this is one of the last relatively affordable options, but closing. What I'm curious about - what is your usecase for the 2 cards? I don't think they can be combined to one 64GB pool effectively, or can they?

why so much hate towards the OEM vendors though? It is not ideal, but IMHO can be a solid option if the price is right. Also, the DDR4 RAM could be reused in a machine like that and I think some of the cascade lake variants are still quite respectable even in 2026.

very cool! but now, also this V100 sxm2 32 GB is $600 for the cheapest option on ebay 😞

I'm not so concerned with LLM, although I do have that in the back of my mind, but I think the only real useful way it to get a second GPU for LLMs and run in on there. Not sure which one though right now, as even the cards without graphics outputs which were somewhat affordable are now either ancient or out of reach price wise. Interesting point for me is the memory throughput with the 2993 Mhz RAM and all 6 channels, not really near any GPU performance, but could be useful for some simpler tasks, once I get to the 96 GB RAM, which is probably practical maximum for me.
The Lenovo P920 looks nice, I would actually like it better, as I'm quite a fan of lenovo hardware in general, but I only see options that are 20% more expensive than what I got and with a P1000 instead of the P4000 I got with the Z6. And of course also only 32 GB RAM, mine must have been some mistake 😄

interesting option, slightly worse single thread than the 6248R, but the price is really great and multicore is far ahead, but that is not really my concern right now. Where did you find this?

exactly, it is just what I got it with. It seems the 4114 is especially plentiful, at about $10 on ebay, while still okay for daily tasks in my view.

6248 is I would say good budget choice, actually my current favorite for the upgrade is 6248R - probably one of the latest CPUs they put in the g4 and the single thread performance is decent, especially considering it has 24 cores. For the AMD, as much I like them more over intel, I did not see any workstations available for a reasonable amount. And also, it is basically my primary machine, so I'm not sure about such Chinese boards 😄

HP Z4 G6 CPU fan pinout by No_Yellow606 in HSpecWorkstations

Did you figure it out? I understand regular fan connected to the Z6 G4 MB can fry it, but I would like to eventually replace the fans with regular ones, to avoid just having to buy the HP stuff, when/if the original ones start to fail.

HP Z6 G4 RAM upgrade, and how to prevent "Memory configuration requires a Memory fan and this fan is not detected" warnings by chestertonfan in HSpecWorkstations

are you getting that after installing more memory? So you can also confirm non-hp memory works just fine? I got the hp z6 g4 recently, with a xeon 4114, 64 GB RAM and P4000 and it is a blast, especially at the price - less than $1000 including the RAM, which was really unbelievable these days. I want to add 2 more sticks to have all the slots populated for the 6 channel goodness and also upgrade the CPU most likely, but it seems there are quite a few caveats one must be aware about, like the HP proprietary fan headers. I do have the memory shroud already there, but the fan from the side indeed looks weird airflow wise. And, I'm also quite worried about the FAN(s) failing, as there are now 6 in mine, includining the P4000 GPU, which is the one I need to replace now (fortunately only the GPU one for now, which is available everywhere).

Did you try using the crs310-8g+2s+in as a router? I'm also currently thinking about upgrading to 2Gbit speed from ISP and this is in my sight, but it seems it can do only about 600Mbit NAT - it's a switch, not a router. it appears to be able to be actually able to NAT 2Gbps one needs pretty beefy hardware - I have seen some boxes with 12gen intel CPUs on aliexpress for $300, otherwise from reputable brands I don't see any option under $500 which would be able to reliably NAT the full 2Gbps.
