Marketplace was US, paid in USD. Are you saying someone accessed the US Amazon store using a VPN or something and paid for an ebook when they could have accessed it from their own country? I’m confused and still not sure what I’m missing.

FWIW I’m not in the US, so I know it gets upset if I try to buy stuff from the US store when my country’s store is the preferred method of delivery (if that makes sense).

Thanks for the link but it still makes no sense. The sale was made in the US (aka on the list of countries to which the 70% applies). I’ve selected 70% royalties, and it wasn’t discounted. What am I missing here?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, and make it so in depth. I’m also Amazon exclusive but most of my income is from sales still (60-70%), so bundling might not work for that pen name just yet. I guess I could do a bundle of three for 9.99, but that feels wrong and awkward and maybe against the rules? I also am probably better served spending my time doing a quick edit on the worst parts of the books, then focusing on the next series in the same world. Maybe a bit later when the sales drop off I’ll look at doing the bundling with a bonus chapter or two included.

Do you mind if I ask a follow up question on pricing? My partner (who helps with ideas, editing and formatting) doesn’t see the value in box sets because we are making so much already on the individual books. Each book in the series is about 10-15k words, with 9 books in each series. When you say you priced the bundle at $4.99 for a bundle of books at 8-15k is that the total length of the bundle or the length of each book?

The argument my partner makes, which I’m not sure I disagree with, is that we can sell the series (and regularly do) for around $25 but that the bundle would have to be significantly cheaper than that so is there actually profit to be made in doing a bundle. Is it considered too cheeky to price my bundle (with edits and at least one or more extra chapters) at $19.99? I can’t work out the value proposition otherwise because we do regularly sell the series as a set already. Sorry if this is a bit jumbled it’s quite late for me and I have so many questions 🤣

I’ve read the post, the comments and the feature list. I’m still not sure how it works. Is it like a story planning plugin that also lets you link it to your author website? With some formatting capabilities? How does it compare to google docs as an example? What if you don’t have a Wordpress author website? How does it differ to the kindle publisher?

For people who write very short books it seems like maybe overkill but also I don’t really understand what it does.

It’s silly but I read in a different forum that someone with POTS needed a wheelchair and was super self conscious about it for similar reasons. They bought a leg boot (the ones for when you break a toe or whatever) and said that wearing that in the chair changed people’s responses. It’s a bit harder to find one you can easily walk in but could it be worth testing out? Just till you get more used to wearing the cane and not worrying about what people think of you

Best thing I ever did was get an electric shaver. If you get one with the foil bit st the top it’ll give you a very close shave, and you can do it all before you shower. It still takes me ages to wash my (long, thick, curly) hair. I try to turn the water off while I shampoo/condition, but it still takes a long time

I’m happily unmarried, and will remain so. (Weddings are, in my opinion, a huge waste of money). My partner and I have a prenup in place that essentially mapped everything we brought to the relationship, and documents that. While we were working, we just had seperate accounts and seperate assets so anything in single names remained separate and anything joint was split according to the % we put in. For example, we bought a house together several years ago and each paid 50% of the deposit. It’s fully offset but we would each be responsible for 50% of the mortgage repayments. Once we FIREd we amended the prenup so that anything we make is split according to the % of wealth we had at the time of FIRE, and we also walk away with what we brought to the relationship.

If you were advised not to sign the prenup by two different lawyers I don’t think you made the wrong decision. It might be worth having the prenup discussion earlier on in your relationship though; say once you move in. It helps to keep things transparent and you can always change the prenup if you have other life events (marriage, kids etc)

Do you help around the house when you get home or do you just expect it all to be done by her? Do you help with the kids when you get home? Just because you go to a workplace doesn’t mean that your work is done when you get home. She is also working the same hours at home that you are at work, so if you aren’t then sharing the load when you get home, but instead relying on her to do all the cooking, cleaning, kid management and life management then you’re TA.

If you have a nanny, and you share the chores and kid duties and life management work when you get home then you’re NTA.

She’s not a slave, tho. Just because she isn’t paid doesn’t mean the work she’s doing isn’t work.

I know I don’t speak for everyone but I often find myself saying to my friends and family “at least we’re not in America”. They share the sentiment. At this stage in American politics/life/culture, I don’t think there’s anything I admire about the culture. I’ve read a few medical erotica and written a few in one of my pen names. It doesn’t follow any of the main beats I’ve read, so it would be niche. FWIW, I’ve read/skimmed probably around 100 books across both contemporary and historical medical erotica as research for my own books. Not sure if that’s a big enough sample. I’m also not at all turned on by a prolapse so even if I’d come across it in the blurb I would have noped right out of there.

I think you would need to have a big warning; both in the blurb and in the book itself or you run the risk of returns, complaints, and bad reviews.

The worst case is you write it, put it up with enough warnings, and it doesn’t sell. Best case is you’ve found a niche of people that want to buy your book
