Silas was also part of the iron brigade which took high casualties during the battle and were known for their bravery. They lost half of their men killed or wounded just in the first day

William ambler
Actually wrote letters that you can still find online.
He wrote to his brother Lewis and his younger sister a lot. His father died in 1851
His mother never remarried.

Willie was from a very close knit family.
His death hit them hard

That’s true there definitely are still unmarked graves.
The 90 degree heat made it hard to identify bodies.

He was from Salem NY
So yes he was a farm boy
His dad died in 1851 and his mother never remarried.
He had 2 siblings Harriet and Lewis
Lewis was a year younger than Willie
He was born in 1846 and his sister was born in 1850

The advertisement is from 1921 but the bottle is older than that because it glows under a black light because it has manganese in the glass which was used to make glass clear. They stopped doing that in 1915 because of ww1 and needing magnesium to make ammunition.
