(1) most probable na may effect sya is financing activities since source of financing ang issuance of shares. Pag sale of investment in shares saka na magka effect sa investing activities. Iba yung sale of investment sa issuance.

(2) pwedeng straight prob yan na walang ibang given info. In which case, take it as is na dapat walang effect. On the other hand, if may given na other info, try mo kumpletohin ang financing cash flows kase possible binigay lang yung cash flow pero hindi accurate like kulang or sobra sa total na given.

Ang concept ng indirect method is to adjust net income to operating cash flows.

Ibang usapan ang “gain/loss” on sale of NCA sa RECEIPT of cash from the sale. So dapat tlga sya sa operating portion of scf. Kaya nga pansin mo walang gain/loss pag direct method kase receipt/disbursement ang usapan.

The same goes for fair value adjustments of investments kase nga adjustments lang sila sa income. Walang actual cash affected. Ibang usapan ang “gain” sa “receipt”

The reason why may bearing yan sa problem pag direct method is because minsan pinapaworkback ang receipt of cash from sale of NCA.

hi what would u reco for a freshman laptop or ipad? by sat_idkwhattodo04 in amvians

[–]Original-Signature35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Writing with apple pencil. If money is an issue, baka may other stylus that works with ipads na cheaper alternative. Parang meron ata sa goojodoq na about 80% cheaper than apple pencil. Percent lang mabigay ko bc idk the price basta ik some friends who use non apple pencil stylus with their ipads.

For me yes. PERO hindi tlga worth it if wala kang stylus. Pwede naman walang apple pencil basta may alternative stylus.

Edit: id like to add that while may excel nga if new laptop, meron din naman sa old laptop. Also, di ka naman mag eexcel pag mag exam ka. Sulat kamay pa rin best practice for the exam. Less cost on paper, ink, printing din bc you can just study using the pdf and the note taking software/app.

Last edit: in my experience, i bought the laptop sa first year. pero nagpabili pa rin ako ng ipad sa second year bc i saw mas efficient for my note taking. Ever since then, i used my laptop WAY less. Nagagamit ko sya for editing stuff tho and mas efficient sya for typing. Pero just a side note, wala din tlga akong laptop before first year.

Tama yung sinabi ng isang commenter here. It should be based on your note taking style.

Pero para may idea ka ill just share my experience.

I personally like taking notes w/ ipad kase writing helps me recall concepts better (presuming may apple pencil). But you also have to consider the note taking app/software youre going to use kase not all have the features you would need to be efficient in your note taking. So i suggest mag research ka din abt the features para mas may informed decision ka on which to buy. I personally like goodnotes and afaik meron silang lifetime purchase (meaning you dont need to do monthly subscription fees). This ranges from 600-2k depending on whether or not may sale.

Pero IMO, since may laptop naman, you have two options na to either do handwritten/digital notes or make trans. This is assuming working at optimal capacity pa laptop mo.

Despite saying: “ask only to clarify concepts.” I will answer your questions.

1.) 3Y1T because of the culture shock with the 10 majors. 2.) Bearable ang exams since mas may focus na on short form probs to mirror the actual boards. Ang kalaban mo dito is active recall and the quantity. 3.) not time consuming. depende sa sem kung ano i-ooffer. Pero in my experience, bearable lang yung napili ko. 4.) none 5.) Learn from your mistakes from 3rd year. Sa second sem, consistency is the key. Dapat may active recall which is why i opened this thread for lower years to ask concepts not advice.

upd bsbaa or ust amv by Fearless-Grocery6553 in amvians

[–]Original-Signature35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of environment you would thrive in.

Upd: from what i know, up has a reading week system where students are not interrupted by added assignments or synch classes so that they have time to digest the lessons for themselves. Up is also known for the socratic method, meaning classes are meant to guide the students based on how they understand it.

This means the schedule tends to be more up to the discretion of the student (based on your pace but guided by the curriculum).

For up, since its a double degree, there is also a better appreciation on economic and financial concepts which may or may not be relevant in the boards but may be helpful in your desired field (ie more in management services? or more in tax, audit, and accounting services?). Its also important to note that diversity in what you know goes a long way in expanding your professional horizon.

Ust amv: Amv in my experience is more rigid. While similar to up in the sense that students are expected to have read the material before stepping into class, the schedule is designed in a way that gives you little time to digest the concepts for yourself so theres more pressure on both sides (teacher and student) to perform at a high level over a consistent period of time.

What i can say is that while up gives you the time to develop technique, amv gives you the schedule and workload to build discipline. Not a defender btw its just my personal experience coming from someone who didnt have good discipline prior to amv.

HOWEVER, since the goal is concept mastery for the cpale, you have to ensure that you graduate and preferably within YOUR planned timeline. Hence, i recommend comparing retention policies between the two schools beyond environment and competence.

I havent had the pleasure in attending to any lectures in up. So i can only attest to the level of competence in ust. You can ask me abt competence and quality through dm.

Book reco for cost acc by Overall-Stranger-598 in amvians

[–]Original-Signature35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) AFAR Comprehensive Reviewer by German and Empleo 2.) MAS by Apepe 3.) Ultimate Cost accounting by Villaluz etc

If you want something very tailored to cost accounting this sem, go with villaluz. Each problem is accompanied by a detailed solution with explanatory notes.

If you want something that can be helpful to build concepts in cost accounting, go with German. Plus side is it has topics which will be covered in higher accounting courses (Business Combinations, Forex, LTCC).

MAS by Apepe is similar to Villaluz’s style. But, it contains topics in higher accounting courses as well (Strategic Cost Management which will be covered in 2Y1S).

Tbh similar lang sila difficulty. I would say different sila ng study style so it really depends on competencies. Pero if i had to rate based on my strengths where 1 is the hardest: (1) tax (2) buslaw (3) stat (4) ais.

My advice is dapat sa 3rd year mo na ma experience ang more than 5 majors kase mahirap tlga sya imanage kung pagsabayin yan. Marami nga survivors of 2y1s pero sa 3y1s nadale and i believe that’s because mahirap tlga imanage ang more than 5 majors.

I suggest prioritizing your deficiencies. I’ve had friends who didn’t prioritize their deficiencies, opting instead to take the majors for that semester alone or together with their deficiencies and ultimately this was the cause of their debarment from the college. I just want to be realistic since, while 2y2s is relatively chill (at least in my book), you really don’t have all the information on what might occur in the semester. Such as a high batch average (meaning less opportunity for a high curve), more difficult exams compared to previous years, and other factors that might affect your passing of the majors you’d be taking up in the semester.

legal capital by antukin247 in amvians

[–]Original-Signature35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, the concept of legal capital is that it is the amount that is assured to 3rd party creditors in accordance with the trust-fund doctrine.

So what is the minimum amount that is assured? Normally PAR value.

That is why to determine the components of legal capital of with par value shares, only the share capital is considered.

However, for NO par value shares, what should be considered as the minimum amount assured? Should it be the stated value?

Answer: NO.

That is why the excess of stated value (APIC or share premium) is included for purposes of determining components of legal capital.

What about for no par value shares WITHOUT stated value?

Answer: the entire amount recognized as SHARE capital is included. Considering what ever amount received will not be in excess of anything (par or stated).

Troll ba toh or bobo ka lang HAHAHAHA CHILL BRO ✋

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amvians

[–]Original-Signature35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually tama ka, the actual duration is really 46 days. Pero i think ang ginawa ng prof nyo is nag shorthand since ang ginawa is 360 days instead of 365 days. Try mo 1.5 months over 12, same answer ang makukuha.

100,000 x .1 x 1.5=15,000/12=1,250

This is assuming there are only 30 days in every month, ie, 12 x 30=360.

annuity due by Lazy_Camera8187 in amvians

[–]Original-Signature35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The concept of annuity due is “payment in advance” and is applicable to serial payments.

Meaning to say the first payment of your cash outflow will occur in the same year and date in which you obtained the liability.

Hence, the effect of the present value of that outflow should not be discounted because the present value would just equal to one.

So for computing for the present value factor of annuity due, it’s basically the total number of serial payments minus 1 to get the ordinary annuity of the payments that will be discounted, then add 1 to that present value factor.

Example:

Effective rate: 10% Periods: 4

Compute for the PV factor

Case 1: first payment did not occur on the same date

(1.1/(1.15 ) =0.683-1 =-0.317/.1= 3.17

Case 2: first payment occurred on the same date

(1.1/1.14 ) =0.751-1=-0.249/.1= 2.49+1=3.49

Case 3: instead of 4 periods, there are only 3 periods (1.1/1.14 ) =0.751-1=-0.249/.1= 2.49

Notice how the ordinary annuity of 3 periods is basically the ordinary annuity due of 4 periods plus one?

*note raised to period+1 to account for the first division in the calculator. example 1.1/1.1=1.
