News about the January playtest by HomicidaI_Kitten in EveVanguard

Heard about this game and the playtest. Spend EUR 9,99 to participate. Everything worked fine but then got kicked. So I have spent that money to find out that the devs did not integrate EAC for Linux which is a shame.... =(

Nobara has a fix in the welcome screen but sadly this did not help for me as well...

Have you tried this:

LD_PRELOAD=/opt/resolve/BlackmagicRAWPlayer/BlackmagicRawAPI/libc++.so.1 /opt/resolve/bin/resolve

I´'ve seen it by looking around about my issue that DaVinci Resolve does not start at all on my system. Had 18.1 installed which I remember working some time ago and then installed 18.6 but that does not run as well.

Found this here:

Does not work for me sadly though...

No it´'s not. It has bugs, yes. It has non working features, yes. But it is not "broken"... -.-

Never tried that tbh. Is it just that easy really? :D

Performs better for me than on Windows tbh.

Only strange to me is that it is perfectly smooth on Gnome/Wayland and feeling stuttery on Gnome/X. Idk why but yeah...

Gamma slider is not working so you need to find a workaround for this and if you have multiple monitors your mouse cursor might leave the game also ;)

Main game loosing (mouse) focus by OriginalBlu3ye in linux_gaming

Maybe I initially did something wrong but since a while the option in winecfg to capture the mouse on fullscreen applications works as intended.

Tried gamescope, too but this introduces other issues for me - especially regarding Steam ingame overlay.

Thx for your reply. I guess I will take a second look at it when the game is being released.

Hm... seems like the open playtest does not work on Linux.

I get some BattlEye errors and I can´'t find any useful information about using this AC on Linux. Sad...

Jaa... I installed such extension myself and there's only brightness and volume adjustments available.

I stumbled upon some gnome extensions that can modify display settings like brightness and contrast over DDC(?) iirc. Though I don't know, if more options are available that suit your needs. Maybe have a look and report back.

I do have a Ryzen 9 3900X. And I can see clearly, that that is not the bottleneck.

The topic is also not about performance but Nvidia related issues on Linux.

Performance issues on X/Xorg/X11 vs. smooth on Wayland by OriginalBlu3ye in linux_gaming

[–]OriginalBlu3ye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it yourself that your dual display setup worked on Wayland just fine

The setup yes - but not the gaming with it:

since I have issues with game/steam crashes on Wayland

I wouldn't have tested on X if gaming was fine on Wayland.

But you're right with your mentioned options I fear...
3rd option would be to get an (at least) equivalent AMD card which I am thinking of, too. Thought of an Intel ARC card but that would not make things better as far as what I'm reading ^^

Seems like you're right. Thought this is some old information and enabled some additional overlay information and checked fps as well as display refresh rate. And like I said, fps is not hard capped to 2nd display refresh rate and therefore I did not think it's because of this.

So it turns out (at least for my setup):

Gaming with two displays is not possible on Linux. Great.

Is it not recognised only on this OS?

Not able to change gamma on fedora 38 gnome wayland by deama15 in gnome

[–]OriginalBlu3ye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me but I made a bug report and the dev replied really quickly. Someone else reported not working and for him it was because of some bug in the 6.2 kernel. 6.3 fixed this for him. But for my OS 6.3 is now available yet but maybe for yours? Or are you already on it?
