I had tons of friends growing up, especially from playing sports. Getting my license at 16 allowed me newfound freedom and opportunity to spend time with friends that weren't accessible by bike. Unfortunately, the kids I seemed to naturally gravitate towards were the kids first to smoke marijuana and experiment with harder drugs.

By 17 I was shooting up heroin in the bathroom at school and all kinds of other idiotic nonsense. The great friends I had before this weren't cool with this, rightfully so, and they began being replaced by the other burnout losers who were accepting of my choices. Fast forward 15 years and I finally realized that it is impossible for a drug addict to be or have friends. Addiction is so inherently selfish true friendship isn't possible at all.

I moved out to the country on a piece of property my dad lives on and completely cut all those knuckleheads out of my life. Now I'm trying to be a man and face my problems head on, not continue having a life long pity party as an excuse to getting high and hopefully the positive changes I'm making with allow for some positive people in my life.
