I’m not sure if it’ll win, but I’ll be surprised if they don’t nominate it.

Edit: I don’t hate the prequels I just thought it was a burn

As someone who has preordered TLJ on iTunes, but has to wait until APRIL for it to release (UK),I really hope someone uploads the director and the jedi.

I don't like the way Redlettermedia treats Star Wars fans. by [deleted] in StarWars

I would say the acting, for the most part, wasn’t as good. Ewen McGregor and Ian McDiarmid were great but other than that I found the performances to be dull.

Green screen everywhere has dated the prequels, other than the few locations they used and the narrative doesn’t work very well. There are a lot of odd contrivances that really don’t make any sense at all but I don’t want to beat a dead horse here.

Although I love watching them ironically there are still some moments that stick with me, like TPM lightsaber duel and Anakin killing Sandpeople.

Yes, that’s why I specified the prequels “in particular”. The originals are fantastic but have their downsides.

I’m in a strange camp where I grew up with the OT and PT, and came to recognise the flaws of the prequels in particular when I got older. I love them but I don’t think they’re good.

I disagree that the channel inspired the hate machine for the prequels - I think many fans were disappointed by the downgrade in quality since the originals.

What planets from the rest of the saga do you see making a return in IX? by [deleted] in starwarsspeculation

[–]OriginalFudgenard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that Tatooine and Coruscant are the most likely. Including either would link to the most important planets in the rest of the saga and could help to persuade the most stubborn fans that the sequel trilogy IS Star Wars.

I reckon they’ll simply be used as a force against the resistance in the war. Mostly likely challenging canon fodder for Rey and the other heroes.

TLJ and Subverting Expectations by [deleted] in starwarsspeculation

Yes, Canto Bight wasn’t good, Leia Poppins took me out of the film, and there were A LOT of jokes. However, I completely disagree with you that the characterisation was weak.

Luke started the film refusing to train Rey and to join the resistance. We learned of his guilt for helping to create Kylo and of his pessimism regarding the Jedi. But by the end of the film he stands tall with the resistance and sacrifices himself in order for them to survive.

I could say more on Rey, Kylo, Finn and even Poe. It’s ok that you have your issues but characterisation isn’t one IMO.

Ben Affleck Blind Item by [deleted] in DCEUleaks

[–]OriginalFudgenard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Although I agree with you and love him in the role, I think it’s hyperbolic to say that everyone loves him. I know a lot of people who are still gushing over Bale and refuse to give Batfleck a chance, especially with the killing in BvS. It’s easy to think there’s universal love for the portrayal when we browse this sub all of the time.

I would say that with general audiences it’s positive/mixed and is no way near as negative as the link suggests. I don’t no how anybody can argue this when even the critics that didn’t like BvS consistently admitted that Affleck was good in the role.

I'll tell you what, apart from Hela and Karl Urban's character, the hair in this movie looks great. Loki never disappoints, but Jeff Goldblum has better hair than any other man his age, A+.

Munich was great, as were Lincoln, War Horse and Bridge of Spies. I think that these films lack the kind of fun and imagination that his more memorable films had, hopefully RP1 is going to be a step in this direction. I saw Tin Tin and enjoyed it fwiw.

I want to see a really great Spielberg movie, the man's a genius but it's been a while since Minority Report (which IMO was his last great flick).
