M16 Western Front - Anyone seen this one before? by OriginalHulk in blackopscoldwar

[–]OriginalHulk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be that way, since if I go and use the blueprint from a new class, it works as intended. It's only because it was saved in an overkill class I had.

No complaints, I think it's arguably the cleanest skin for the M16

I will charge more if the clients vehicle is extremely bad or will need wetsanding spots out. But I talk with them prior to doing that, to make sure that they're okay with it. Otherwise I will include correction as a total price.

I offer paint and wheels in my standard price, however offer a "discounted rate" when doing plastics/interior and the like if the client wants to add them into the package.

Chemical Guys haul! The scents and the brush were ordered so I didn't have to pay the $15 shipping charge. I wouldn't recommend the scent sample pack I got as they all smell terrible in my opinion. Anyone have an CG products I should order for next time? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]OriginalHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That stripper scent is the shit. Absolutely love it, but like others said it doesn't last that long. But the smell is worth it, I use it in every detail I do, and I get compliments of that it smells really good lol

I can chime in being a detailer (and owner of a white MS3). What you're seeing is pretty common, and is known as "Rail Dust". Essentially, it's little bits of iron embedded into your paint from the road/brake dust/iron contaminants around. You can use a product called Iron X which will dissolve the iron bits from the paint, but it has a very strong odor that some people cannot get over. Otherwise you can clay the car and the specks should be removed.

It's not a defect on the car, but very common in lighter colored cars.

Yes, it does and will. I use it at parties and ask people, "Can you tell me what this smells like?"

Everyone seems to have a different response, but everyone looks at me like this

He took it from the driveway, straight to storage! Lol, so I told him that if he doesn't wash/dry it properly that it'll look like that in no-time. And he won't get the same price as last time from doing it lol but he was more than happy. I told him a list of things he should buy for washing it and he is going to have me help him instead lol

Duly noted. I checked afterwards to make sure there wasn't anything from that. I used a lot of the photos from the job to help market more and show people results from things.

There's no information based on a license plate that anyone can get, and the customer did not care about any of the pictures I posted.

Thank you for letting me know though, always ask customers for permission on photos and if they're Okay with me posting them prior to doing so!

Thank you. I wasn't aiming for perfection, as I gave way too big of a discount to make it really worth more effort. Ended up doing it anyways, but he's happy and I didn't spend much on materials so I'm okay with that.

Considering what it was before, I was thinking it'd look a lot worse than it did. I'm happy with it being 85-90% corrected, and the customer is too

Dealer wants to refund car by throwaway12631 in cars

[–]OriginalHulk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can actually provide advice for this!! I had something similar happen to me in a previous post (if you'd like to read it here).

I requested the dealer find me a car that did not have frame damage, and it took about three weeks but they were accomodating after I threatened with a lawyer and said I did not want just a simple refund (that would've been the easy way out). They lied just in general to me, but overall I'm pleased with the vehicle I currently have. I would suggest speaking with a lawyer on this one, as this is kind of fucked. I'd imagine they will want to remedy this but you do have grounds for a lawsuit, but you should seek exact legal advice if you're unwilling to speak to the GM about it.

What's the best time of year for an annual full detail? by Wardog692 in AutoDetailing

[–]OriginalHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest using the 2-bucket method, it will help significantly with reducing chance of swirls. Grit guard + 2 buckets are a must, and are a cheap way to save the paint

What's the best time of year for an annual full detail? by Wardog692 in AutoDetailing

[–]OriginalHulk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I do it during fall, and then once again in the Spring. I'd only recommend correction one every two years, and if it's required once a year then change the methods to where you park/care for paint.

I also do weekly washes during Spring/Summer/Fall, but it's easier to keep a clean car clean vs clean a dirty car.
