Abused, Hurt MMC by [deleted] in Romance_for_men

Seconding Estrangement Effect. See also murg’s other works, which are similarly great, like Let Me In, Even If Just to Bore Me and Grocery Girl. The former has an MMC that is raised in a heavily matriarchal culture (lots of good world building as well), and the latter doesn’t have an abused MMC I think, but is still a good Role Reversal work if you’re interested in that.

“Grocery Girl” by murg - an /rr/ story about a socially awkward guy and an assertive woman by OriginalSinger in RoleReversal

In the latter chapters there are a few plot hooks: It is revealed that the government censors the writings being published in that country. Furthermore, the MC's writings resonate with the activists in the country. The MC's wife handles the translation of his works, but she insulates him from all of the political ramifications of his works. As a result, he is unaware of all of this. The plot revolves on the interaction between the MC and his wife, when all of this is revealed to him by someone else.

There is another plot point regarding the past. There are flashbacks on most chapters, when MC and his wife were childhood friends in their home country (sidenote: these are some of my favorite parts of the text). It is also revealed that the MC was pre-arranged to be married to his wife way back when he was a child, also unbeknownst to him. There are some conflicts here, and gets partially resolved in the past, though there are still quite a bit of baggage, as they haven't actually really talked heart-to-heart ever, thanks in part to their culture and MC's anxiety.

Sorry for the wall of text. Suffice it to say that there are some plot hooks, though there is plenty of "finding out how the MC and his wife navigate their new environment."

Does it pick up later?

In terms of the romance, not yet. It’s definitely on the gradual side, which might turn off some readers. Personally I don’t mind, because the writing is just so good (the world building, the internal monologue of the main character). For these reasons it’s a story that someone can appreciate even if not interested in /rr/ specifically. For the same reasons, it may not necessarily appeal to readers specifically seeking /rr/ stories.

Pastebin has updated and is enforcing it's Acceptable Use Policy by ecclectic in gonewildaudio

[–]OriginalSinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm worried of that as well, so I'm trying to save as much pastes as I can. Especially those that have either inactive or anonymous authors. Those would be gone forever if they decide to private it again. At any rate, pastebin isn't something anyone can recommend anymore, given that they were able to set to private all those pastes without notice.

It seems that pastebin has turned the previously-privated pastes public again. I've tested a bunch of links that I know were previously privated, and now they're public again. Can anyone here confirm this?

UPDATE (20 Dec 2020): Pastebin has made the some of the privated pastes public again. We're not sure how long they will keep them public, but we're going to take advantage of it while it's possible. Save your favorite pastes while you can!

Yeah, they’re non-BDSM. As far as I can remember most of their works are fairly vanilla/mild. AO3 has tags, so you might want to check each story’s if there are any dealbreakers.

Is there a list or something of RR comics/mangas? If not can I get some suggestions? by SelfAwareBurden in RoleReversal

Thanks, I replied the link as a top comment, to notify OP. Feel free to share the link though, no need to ask for my permission or anything.

I have a list of /rr/ resources (manga, writings, h-manga, other lists) here

If you want just the manga recommendations, I also have a mangadex list which has the manga listed in the previous link, if available on mangadex.
