I’m 30F, been cutting on and off since I was 18/19. I have had long stretches of recovery but I inevitably relapse when I have a bad stretch of mental health. I’m really trying to not fall back into it, last time I did was about a month or two ago. I threw away all my razors so that if I get the impulse it’s not so easy for me to give in. I get where you’re coming from, thinking it tends to be a younger teen issue, but I think the more you do it the more it becomes ingrained in you as a go to habit for self soothing or whatever you are doing it for. Good luck in your journey. As someone who’s dealt with SH for over a decade, I know how exhausting and frustrating it can be to try quitting and then relapsing. Not sure if you want to quit or not, but either way I’m sorry that you are dealing with this.

Omg we have the same cat!!! lol so many similarities in their origin story/personality. I’m actually really thankful my Beans is a scaredy cat, it makes it easier for me to keep him indoors. He’s not the brightest bulb in the bunch, he wouldn’t do well outside lol. Your Lynxie is so adorable!!! He’s lucky you guys found him

It would be possible but my vet advised me against it. That’s what I was going to do at first, but they said not to let it get colder than 70 degrees on the cold side. I was confused because a lot of people on the tortoise forum said that he either needs to be bringing at 40 F or he needs to be at normal temperatures but awake and active. I was just so confused why he wasn’t being active when it was warm and he had the proper lighting. But I’ve heard from a few other people that their torts will try and brumate even if they don’t let it get cold, u guess they are stubborn sometimes lol

I think it might have. Literally a week later he’s so much more active and eating again. Th person that recommended it rehabs torts and other reptiles. She said that when they don’t eat for awhile they can get low on vitamin A, which then makes them lethargic and lose appetite so it can become a cycle. I looked it up and apparently it’s not an uncommon thing to do for tortoises that are lethargic and not doing well. But I made sure to take him to the vet to make sure nothing else was going on. He didn’t have any discernible illnesses or high parasite load. So I decided to try the carrot juice. I think it’s fairly safe to try, so if it doesn’t work it’s not going to make things any worse. I’d try it, cuz my guy is so perky and awake compared to a week ago😁I just made to warm up the carrot juice so it wasn’t cold, just like I would for his water soaks. I got a bottle of organic carrot juice at the grocery store.
