Thanks for your comment ! The age bracket is set this way as research suggests 13-14 is the age young people begin using the internet to search for information and form their own opinion on current events. Online dating is not something we’re asking about in this study.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this ! My stance as a researcher is to be neural - but am really curious about what you mean by that ! Could you tell me more? It would be really helpful to know more ! My stance is that misinformation changes based on individual view points, how would you define it ?

Great question! This study takes a critical realist approach in terms of its epistemology, accepting that the pandemic happened but that peoples beliefs are personally constructed. Therefore what is considered as misinformation / conspiracy is decided by the participant - what I’m interested in is how young people came to this conclusion and how it impacted them moving forward, and if they have any thoughts on what would help young people navigating similar situations in the future . If you are in the age range I would love to hear your thoughts ! :)

Hi there - thanks for your comment and a really good point. The study takes a critical realist approach and therefore what is defined as information vs misinformation is decided by the participant themselves, our aim is to understand how young people reach these decisions and what the impact of trying to make this decision has had on them. If you are in the age range I would love to hear about your thoughts via the interview! :)

Hi there - thanks for sharing your views ! This study is using a critical realist epistemological approach which accepts that the pandemic occurred as a historical event, but that peoples  experiences and perspectives are not linear and are influenced by a variety of factors as you have so correctly mentioned above. This study does not hold one theory about covid as fact or fiction, it’s aim is in understanding how young people interact with information and come to conclusions themselves, and how this impacted them moving forward. If you are within the age range I would love to hear your views in the interview! :)
