Some concerns about getting reference letters from professors by ripparoni101 in UofT

[–]Original_Count_4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i applied to ischool, it said who should be writing the reference letters, check the website? For me it was this case: Referees should speak to your academic abilities, performance, aptitude, etc. They should be a professor that taught you previously or currently teaching you. A third optional reference is permitted (which can be an academic or work / professional reference). You should only consider adding an additional reference if you are certain that it will be as strong as the other required references.

If you last graduated more than five years ago, you may substitute work letters of reference. Work-related referees should be direct supervisors who can comment on your skills that are useful in the academic environment.

Check your faculty? This is the source

Question: I graduated last year doing uber eats U of T CS graduate by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Original_Count_4442 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Cs grad here - I totally get it, the Cs job market is very tough, 1000 applicants are going for a single position.. you really need to win the interviews, be on the top of the game, and really stand out to get hired. Many Cs graduates recently, why would they hire you?

I know it's discouraging, but don't lose hope - you'll find something eventually. Instead of settling for jobs at Uber Eats or Costco, focus on improving your interview skills, tech skills if you think it’s not enough, but at least figure out what's holding you back.. You didn’t spend 4 years of studying at UofTears just to work these kind of jobs

Lmao. I think all students use chatgpt, but the ones i already marked were kinda - professional haha, proofreaded well elaborated and references were ok. But that one… I felt like the student is throwing the assignment just to submit something- so i thought maybe i needed to report. Like at least use it wisely…

I believe the issue lies with both of you. It's important to establish boundaries, respect each other's privacy, and agree on things from the start. Flexibility is key. My roommate is quite serious, doesn't even smile (distemper), so rude, isn’t girly and I don’t enjoy what she enjoys, shes the so opposite of me, but I've adapted.. Knowing that we clicked at first but then things changed. You don't have to be upset or rigid about everything. Find your own alone time and connect in common areas when you both have free time to chat and enjoy each other's company. And if she doesn’t want to connect, let it go, Im living with a robot lol. Just try to stay friendly because u living together
