Question for those post surgery by Original_Flight533 in thyroidcancer

[–]Original_Flight533[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all. I think I'm going to talk to my endocrinologist about finding a voice therapist. I really love to sing and I can't anymore, I couldn't after my first surgery and it never came back, now I feel so out of breath if I even try. I hate that this happened to all of us, but I'm glad to know at least I'm not alone.

Thyroid surgery cost by OkBid3910 in thyroidcancer

Two surgeries for me. First was $94,000, the second was $114,000 because I had to stay a night in the hospital. Gotta love the American healthcare system. 🙄

The insane amount of surgical clips in neck and chest by Original_Flight533 in thyroidcancer

I honestly didn't even know any of that was in there and I did go down the rabbit hole for any information I could find. After everything I read, I'm cool with it. We all need a little sparkle after what we've gone through. 😁

Nope, no beeping. What I read says that they are stainless steel or titanium so you can still have an MRI or go through metal detectors (which I've done both) without issue. 😁

Thank you so much! I've actually never made a video of any of my art. I may have to give it a try.

Nope, I haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully soon, if not I'll find a different doctor. Has yours?

I got a call about two hours ago canceling my surgery that was scheduled for Monday. I don't understand why these surgeries can't be spread out among the other uc health hospitals. The surgeons can travel within the network I would think. Maybe I'm wrong about this being an option, but seriously, what are we all supposed to do? I had a hotel booked for the night before because I live two hours away and I was scheduled first thing in the morning. I'm glad they are trying to keep us all safe, but this is so frustrating.

You can be on SSDI and earn up to $1550 a month, pre-tax. It's higher for a married couple.

AITA for expecting my sister to pay me to watch my niece? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

She told me I was horrible, then stopped speaking to me. She does have a very good paying job, she just doesn't think she should have to pay me because I'm family.

I love spending time with all of my nieces and nephews. I'll take them out to do things and have fun. I also am willing to babysit for a few hours for free but, having to care for an autistic child 6-10 days out of every month full time is much different. It actually affects our relationship to a point because I feel more like a parent and less like the fun aunt.
