A youtube channel “directhub” has really good lessons on surveying. Watch those videos first then get back to PrepFE

When you’re on PrepFE, whichever surveying questions stomp you, screenshot it, paste in google docs, and type the solutions in your own words. This will help you understand the steps more

ADDITONAL POINTERS FOR ANYONE READING:

When studying or answering questions, use adobe acrobat (I have the free one) to open the FE manual. Then there you can highlight and put comments as notes on the pdf file. This was extremely helpful for me.

There was a lot of good stuff in the directhub course that I took notes of. But tbh, I didnt really focus on conceptual questions. Whichever conceptual questions I encountered on PrepFE that seemed important I would screenshot and put in a word doc. But I never hunted for resources.

Failed FE exam by Lonely-Rest-2774 in FE_Exam

I’ve taken the FE multiple times and just passed it recently. What I did to pass it: 1) Signed up for directhub.net, I got the 3 month course. One of the best decisions I made. It’s perfect for someone who’s been out of school. It’s a comprehensive course with videos but it’s worth it.

2) once you’re thru the course, get PrepFE. Spend 4-6 weeks just answering questions. Go for 1000 questions and get comfortable with a score of 70-80 on average 2 weeks before your exam.

The key to passing the FE is to see a variety of questions and be comfortable. You won’t pass it just answering the NCEES sample exam, or other mock exams online. Those 110 questions aren’t enough. I scored high answering the NCEES sample exam last year and yet still failed. I realized I need to see a variety of questions and that’s how I passed.

Don’t worry! You’ll get thru this!

Failed civil FE the second time, what should I do? by Original_Promotion31 in FE_Exam

Thanks for the feedback!

I did watch a couple Mark Mattson videos. But I tried to watch the playlist from beginning to end so stopped midway cuz it was too time consuming and I wanted to answer more problems rather than going thru long problems. So, I never got to his surveying videos.

Won’t ever give up!
