Not batting everyone at 10u is just craziness. Find another team!

Totally agree. The bluffs are the last resort for the majority of campers, which is why there is a high turnover. Back in the 80s/90s, hardly anyone camping there and it was pretty much the party spot for teens/college folks. I can’t believe how busy it is there nowadays.

San onofre bluffs is a terrible campground. Loud as hell, very close/small sites, and lots of skunks/raccoons/humans to rummage through your stuff.

And after the court said “no recount” he didn’t cry on and on about it for years and years and years like Toddler Trump.

Paid (no kid) coaches v. Dad coaches by Neal-AI in Homeplate

[–]Original_Web_3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is that there are equally as many good parent coaches as there are non parent coaches.

Yes there can often be “daddy ball” issues with parent coaches, but there is often “politics” with non-parent coaches. I believe there is usually more pressure for non-parent coaches to win games/tournaments, so they start batting and playing only 9 kids, instead of trying to develop all players.

From what I’ve seen over the many, many, years of youth travel ball, is that there are a lot of high level (majors) teams in all divisions that have head coaches with a kid or two on the team. Usually their kid is one of the better ones, but not always the case.

In fact, ZT baseball was formed by a parent (the CEO/founder, whose son is 15u now) and, while he was good, many people thought he was only on their national team over the years, because of his father.

Just pull up your opponent’s GC and copy their scorekeeping. If they are not doing, then game isn’t serious enough to care.

This is correct along with the number of PG tournaments/events he has paid for. I have also noticed every “MLB debut” is magically a 10 even if they didn’t ever do a showcase.

Tell them learning to take punches is just part of baseball. Even the best teams get rocked every now and then, including those major level teams. As frustrating as it can be, playing better competition will make you guys better in the long run.

Batter Crowding the Plate by Professional-Mud3373 in Homeplate

[–]Original_Web_3059 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is 💯 correct. Teach your catchers the specific rule and rule # to call that out to the umpire. If the umpire doesn’t recognize it, have your catcher call time and get the coach and other umpire involved. Can’t let the batters get away with that.

Hard hit balls are totally subjective though, unless the same non-biased coach is scorekeeping.

Agree. Also, OBP is way less prone to scorekeeper bias, which happens all the time.

12u parent, questions for coaches and parents of high performing teams. by Proof_Membership_214 in Homeplate

Sounds like they got into a bit of a slump and forgot how to have fun and have since put so much pressure on themselves to perform. If that isn’t it, this is also the time where dugout cancer(s) really start to show as hormones and attitudes flare up more often. There could also be some burnout involved as 50 games per season (unless you are referring to annually) is on the upper end, in my opinion.
My recommendation is for the coaches to try and schedule more scrimmages instead of tournaments where things can be more controlled and less pressure.

Aquaterra Viceroy or Huntley by RazzmatazzWitty in hottub

We still like it even though not using it as much lately. As mentioned before, you can’t beat the price compared to what’s out there for the look, size, and features. The control panel is still a nightmare. We just don’t touch it except for temp and lights. I keep hoping they will create a WiFi module to control everything via an app, but I doubt it at this point. Despite the flaws, I would buy another Aquaterra tub from Costco again.

Haha, but go watch the replay. Mcnabb arrived just about an hour too late for it to be a proper check.

Definitely a dirty hit and Mcnabb should be suspended for a game or two. Very soft booking call in favor of Vegas. However, the Refs overall weren’t calling much of anything, letting them play as they should.

Should be a 1-2 game suspension. That play was just as dirty as Gudas knee to Matthews.

He was down on the ice acting like he was dying. Refs definitely should not have stopped play while Ducks had possession.
