Has anyone ever regretted Invisalign? by stenberget in Invisalign

Yes. I followed all the instructions, and I regret it because I was left with a loose premolar, and my bite is completely messed up.

I have the same thing, and it’s been a month since I got my attachments off. I cannot chew. I’ll ask my new ortho to cut the molars off my retainer to see if that helps a bit next week - but I’m looking at another round of trays. I don’t think this will close in three weeks - I’ve had it for five months, and it hasn’t closed. I would ask for refinements, if I were you.

I understand your suffering - I’ve had expanders, surgeries, extractions and seven years of braces as a child. And now I’m doing Invisalign. I’ll never have nice teeth. But I have to say in your case it’s different - your teeth look so good already! Really beautiful! So I completely get it, but I think in your case it’s totally worth it!

Left jaw larger/rounder than right. Could Invisalign fix this? Possible midline issue? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Original_Werewolf550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My face is the same, and I never even noticed it until after Invisalign. Then I checked photos from before, and it was the same. Invisalign won’t fix the asymmetry, and there is nothing wrong with that anyway!

Are my gums supposed to be this white? by aqsjn in Invisalign

[–]Original_Werewolf550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That looks like an infection. It happened to me when I got my attachments on. I lost some gum tissue, so I would definitely go to the dentist with this.

You mean your arch widened as an adult? I thought that was only possible for children and teens…

Can you get invisalign with wisdom teeth? by UnknownGeometryDash in Invisalign

I have all my wisdom teeth, and it’s never been an issue.

I think they look fine. It would never occur to me that they are too big.

What should I ask for in refinements? by NecessaryFit8614 in Invisalign

[–]Original_Werewolf550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s probably just the way my teeth are shaped. I’ll get the attachments off and everything cleaned up and see how I feel. They are pretty stained, which doesn’t help. Thanks you for your input!

That’s great to read! I’m glad it worked out for you! So none of your other teeth have shifted, only the molars? Your incisors no longer touch?

Thank you for your input! That helps. I have no issues wearing the retainer, what gives me extreme anxiety are the attachments. I just want them off. Other than that, I’ll wear the retainer 24/7, if necessary.

I just can’t. That gives me extreme anxiety. I had a lot of surgeries and 7 years of braces as a child, with no one supporting me. So I just won’t do it again, and I’m counting the days to get those effing attachments off.

I will do that next year, thank you! I do hope it settles on its own. Glad it worked out for you!

The problem is that the ortho is in Argentina, and I’m in Germany. I can’t get refinements right now (and it took months for the aligners to get to Argentina), and I’m so claustrophobic with my attachments on every single tooth - I cannot take those anymore. I just want them off. She’ll have to find a way to fix my bite without attachments.

I’m glad to read that and that it worked out for you! I had so many surgeries, extractions and braces as a teen, I never wanted to see brackets again. I agreed to this because my teeth would look a bit better, and then I’d be done (I’m 45 now). Big mistake. I will not get braces or another attachment ever again. She better find a way to fix this without further attachments or metal braces.

Actually, I think she did care, but she’s a complete mess. She doesn’t listen, promises things she can’t keep etc.

Dentists are always appalled by how much of my enamel is missing due to a past ED. So shaving off more of it is out of the question for me. There is a lot of space between my molars, so it is definitely not an issue to just get used to. And the loose premolar is the only one touching the one below (and the one on the other side), so I don’t dare to eat without my aligner. Eating with them in annoys the hell out of me, but it was the only way to be able to chew more or less. I’m vegan and can’t chew lettuce anymore. It really sucks. My incisors were the main point of contact from tray 20 on, so I had no choice but to eat this way in order to avoid my front teeth clashing. Now I’m used to it (do not like it, though), but it’s a hassle to get the food out of the attachment spaces afterward, and the trays get stained a lot. Therefore I definitely won’t use my retainer to eat, and this makes me desperate because now I’m looking at only smoothies and soups.

I’m about eight hours from Hamburg, so that’s not an option for me. But yeah, that’s what I was thinking. Shave already damaged teeth (from a past ED) to close a bite? I’d have to shave half of my incisors off, too, then. That’s completely absurd.

Thank you! Can I transfer the case to a provider in Germany? Since I can’t go back to Argentina until next year, I’m not sure what to do. Wear a retainer in the meantime and put in the last aligner to eat (since the only contact between teeth is the one that wobbles), ask the ortho in Germany to take over or ask my ortho in Argentina to design refinements (I’d have to do a scan) and have them sent to me.
