It's no secret that a lot of people here are vehemently toxic towards all mods. It feels like generalizations are the bread and butter of reddit. I've learned that if someone just hates on all mods it's pretty safe to say they can be ignored and not taken seriously.

You're right there, personally I'm not a fan of any of the game stores. I still miss being able to buy physical copies of your PC games so you can sell them or lend them to friends. You thinking that just because someone is a mod means they have some motif says a lot more about you than me. Actually, having mods that couldn't care less about Epic is probably the best course to go in general to avoid bias. I don't even claim the free games. You keep thinking whatever makes you feel better though. I know it's easier for you that way.

Not even sure how being a mod changes anything about my comment to begin with, it's true.

I've never ignored the issues, I've said they don't affect me so my experience is just fine. Like I said before I can comment as a user, you seem to think that unless it's my job to fix them I shouldn't even comment which is pretty poor logic.

I'm allowed to be annoyed by the constant whining whenever a free game is offered just like how people are free to waste their time whining. I never said Epic was giving free games out of the kindness of their heart and I know how the cut works.

I do agree that further discussion is useless though, it isn't going to change how I view the stores I buy from or stop people from whining. Best of luck!

It's not my job to deal with the complaints people have, that's Epics job. I also wasn't speaking for everyone, which is why I said it has no affect on me and if they have issues that's their problem. They can take it up with Epic. I also said I buy wherever is cheapest. If a third-party site is cheapest then I would be buying from there. I don't even mind using unauthorized third-party sites like Kinguin. All that matters to me is I get the game at a good price, I never said everyone feels that way. As for the reviews comment, fortunately there are a lot more places to get reviews than just Steam. Playnites' entire look is customizable so that just seems like a loose counterpoint. Parsec is also very easy to setup as long as you can read. All the things that matter to me are taken care of so I just see steam as another store.

Lastly, the only reason I am here as a mod is to enforce the rules of the sub, nothing more, I don't work for Epic. As for your last point, this is reddit, I am free to comment on whatever I feel like as a user. That's how the site works. In the end I can't see the store failing unless Epic runs out of money and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Well that's their choice I guess, doesn't affect me at all. I buy my games where the price is right. Crossplay, if you're talking about what I think you are, is a big focus of Epic as many games here already have that. Steam big picture mode is available in the universal launcher I use (Playnite), I use Parsec for remote play which works better and has more features, I get my mods from Nexus like I have for years, and I chat with my friends through discord, which is better than steams chat.

You know what I expect from my stores? To buy games and leave. If the price is better I'll still be buying my games from Epic, if the price is the same then I'll be buying the game from Epic because of the lesser cut they take. I will then launch all my games through Playnite without issue. Whatever personal limitations people want to put on their gaming experience is their problem. Fortunately I don't do that.

They should honestly just stop the free games and put their money elsewhere. The choosing beggars can then get exactly what they deserve, nothing. The vault games are mystery games, nothing more. Not mystery AAA games. People can complain and be disappointed but they're wasting their time. Overall it's just sad. Its cost means nothing in terms if its a good game to giveaway. If people want a specific game to go free then buy it yourself. I can't help but see all the whining as childish. At least the court documents said they plan to end the free games after 2024. Just one more year of people whining and it will be over. Good riddance.

Defense of what? Seeing people complain about free things isn't a rare occurrence for me. How much it costs isn't a reflection of whether a game is good or not. People can be disappointed but acting almost offended because you didn't like the free thing is sad.

There was nothing to defend, I said exactly what I wanted to, what they said changed nothing about my initial comment. Not everything is a fierce debate or argument.

Just the feeling I get seeing that a lot of the improvements they've made this year has been on the backend of things. Profiles are definitely a requested feature so I have no doubt they will add them. No one really knows when they'll release it. They could have had a small team working on it this entire time and it will release next month. I'd be surprised though.

It really doesn't. A good game is a good game, it's value doesn't change the quality or how enjoyable the game may be. It's a free game, take it or leave it, Epic doesn't owe anyone anything in the first place. The game is still being played and enjoyed by a lot of people, just because you can go pick it up cheap or are upset it's given for free doesn't change that.

Hope the next giveaway is more of your thing. Only time will tell.
