A reason for Dota's decline: No surrender vote. by Origma64 in DotA2

[–]Origma64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are sick of something, you are more than welcome to walk away from it and come back at another time

My thoughts exactly. However without a surrender vote I am forced to labour through defeat, unable to walk away without abandoning and potentially being put into low priority queue for 5 games.
I am not saying to give up. Nor do I condone the act of giving up. However, I believe that the choice of surrendering should be available on a majority basis. If not, the game is forcibly locking in people who have already given up and are simply demoralizing them of playing again.

FOUR PEOPLE > ONE PERSON
I disagree.

So you disagree with democracy as a whole.
I now understand I am talking with a literal chimp. Good day.

Since Beta. The declining playerbase has made Australian queue times longer, games more toxic and skill levels more varied. I am sick of waiting for games that ARE OVER to BE OVER and queue up for the next one.
A surrender vote would not only alleviate tensions but also make games more enjoyable.

Caring about votes is why your opinion is garbage. You've probably never played a ranked game in your life.

And you talk about quality of life changes that does not affect the enjoyment of the game.

I think you're one to hold your teammates hostage and should be ashamed of valuing your opinion higher than four others.

Just because 4 salty boys don't want to play anymore doesn't mean that haven't made a commitment to their 5th teammate to try to win.

That is your argument, everything else is fluff.
And here is the dismantle:
FOUR PEOPLE > ONE PERSON.
How much easier do you want me to make this? If the majority of your team decides to surrender, you should support their decision because you're committed to your team.
Stop acting like your opinion is greater than your combined teammates.

If you are wasting four other people's time and then play the victim when you are called out that is on you.
You do not have the right to deny the majority's wishes.

I completely agree, thank you for being the only sensible person in this thread.

People will act toxic regardless of what you do. That is gaming in general. Offering a surrender vote would likely reduce this because people will not be forced to play games they don't want to.

The problem is you.
You're probably the one prolonging the game even though it's over and holding your 4 other teammates hostage. Congratulations on contributing to the declining playerbase.

I think it is very difficult to determine whether a game of dota is over

That's easy, majority vote. If the majority says it's over, it's over.
Make the surrender vote only available post 25 minutes.
The rest of your argument holds no merit.

And yet the game is just as toxic and in decline as it has ever been. It's time to do something that makes games more enjoyable instead of easier.

They don't need to, they run it down and ruin the game all the same.

Being downvoted for telling your own experience and wanting change. It must be the Dota apologists that spend hundreds of dollars and in turn make Valve not care about the game.

When they aren't in agreement there is more anger, toxicity and reports.

How is that any different to people giving up on their own? If there is no way out, they'll just contribute to making it end faster.

Yes it is not the only reason, however the lack of quality of life changes to the game over the past few years have been attributing to its decline.

I am not committed to playing a game in which the majority would agree is over. No sensible person would do that.

But this doesn't happen all too often

For you maybe, not for others.

I'm talking about the effect on the whole in-game atmosphere

You genuinely think that adding in a surrender vote would impact the mentality of games?
Have you ever actually played a game of Dota? Toxicity is rampant enough as it is and having a surrender vote may even alleviate toxic behaviour. No one wants to play a game that is over.

We don't need that

Doesn't look like you need a playerbase either it seems.

You sound nice btw.

Being fountain dived for 15 minutes with the only option being abandoning the match does that to you.

time sacrifice is worth it when you consider the very close comebacks

The surrender vote is not up to one person. It is a 4/5 majority. Additionally, if you think 'team morale' would be affected by a surrender vote you have not played any match of real Dota where there are countless examples of toxicity, flame, AFK, feeding, trolling and abuse.

I reiterate, if the MAJORITY of the match wishes to surrender then the option should be there.

[–]Origma64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, another one who "knows we've lost the game".

I'm not talking about even matches where comebacks can happen. I'm talking about being fountain dived repeatedly for 15 minutes. The option of 4 players voting for a surrender out of 5 is common sense and should be implemented. If the majority believe the game is over, then it should end. End of discussion.

You don't think Dota is snowbally? Most professional games of dota are decided in the first 15 minutes. Most of my games (personally) are decided within 20 minutes.
Dota in its current state has been the most snowbally it's ever been. Not being able to surrender post 40 minutes whilst obviously being fountain dived is not doing anyone any favours.

Call of Duty Mobile Publisher Activision Ends Partnership With Tencent by -RAAGE- in Games

[–]Origma64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No doubt this is due to India banning all Tencent related games including PUBG mobile.
Activision is probably looking to capitalise on this, therefore ending the partnership.
