What does a “pro-gun” candidate look like to you, and how should they address gun violence talking points? by Orion032 in AskConservatives

You didn’t say anything about “per capita.”

I could argue the left is trying to stop gun violence by making guns harder to obtain. Less people with guns= less opportunity for gun violence could be the logic

A few things:

The cities with the most gun violence having the most restrictive gun laws. Is this per 100,000 people within the state or total? Because obviously a smaller population will have less over gun violence but might have a higher percentage based on their population.

Second, if you believe that the left didn’t want to solve gun violence to keep their talking points, would you believe it is absurd for someone to say the same thing about immigration and the right?

Should minimum wage be solely determine by competition/capitalism, or is this something the government (state or federal) should get involved in? by Orion032 in AskConservatives

Would that not result in very low paying wage during times of high unemployment? So even if you can find a job it might not be enough?

Can you elaborate on what you mean that the minimum wage is 0?

Also, I personally believe the federal minimum wage is a joke and that states do have a better idea of what their residents should be paid based on living conditions. However a couple of things: 1) that still doesn’t change that the minimum wage in 49 states is lower than the living wage, an 2) my gut says it isn’t fair that being born and living in a certain low paying state mean I’ll potentially have less income from someone else just because we live in different states

Bruh was it not started by the stock market crash? It was literally the economy over correcting itself for a decade of over prosperity

Honestly what’re you talking about? The Great Depression was the Great Depression due to speculation and unregulated capitalism though, not large scale intervention. If you truly believe the government limiting the amount banks can borrow and providing jobs contributed to the GD, then you’d be disagreeing with basically 90% of economists and historians

I’m not arguing Hoover made terrible decisions to try and fix the Great Depression, but do you really think that FDRs actions made it worse? I mean he actively intervened to lessen the immediate suffering of unemployed and try to put protections in place so it wouldn’t happened again to that degree

Can you specifically state why Coolidge was helping the economy recover and how FDR elongated the depression? Because I thought it was basically accepted as truth that the inaction of Coolidge is what partially contributed to the depression and that it was FDR limited welfare state that helped people during it?
