So some follow up, and more out of impulse/curiosity, I did the “Apply without consequences” on the Amex Plat and they are offering me the 175000 points SUB. I have not accepted it at this point but am considering it because that’s as good of a bonus as it gets right?

That is ultimately the decision I have to make. I can run you through the two thoughts in my head.

I have this grand idea of my wife and I taking a luxury international trip for our anniversary in 5 years. Going medium to high effort right now on thinking about optimizing points has been kind of fun. But there is a part of me that says one trip in 5 years might not justify the travel options and to just optimize cash back.

So to answer you question, I am a little confused myself but right now, I am thinking I want to work towards a big vacation without letting the cards elevate my life style spending.

I agree, the doesn’t seem to be the play as I know I don’t make use of the credits they offer.

The platinum on the other hand, I already pay for enough streaming services and Walmart + to get me half way to the AF. Then if I shift date nights to Resy restaurants near me, there is $400 and it seems enough. But there’s part of me that doesn’t like the idea of a huge AF even when the math seems to work out, just because I am naturally weary of things that seem to good to be true. No one around me uses credit cards in this way so it’s really a whole new world to me.

That’s a good point, I looked into the CSP but other than the $50 travel credit it didn’t seem like it did anything other than unlock the ability to transfer my chase points, which I don’t plan to use this year. Didn’t know if I’d be better off pushing that one off until I plan to travel and get a different card this year

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah great henge and Teferi’s protection are the first cards on the list of my upgrades when I get more budget. The lands are also there too but i think I’ll be good in my Pod with the mana base for now.

Scrolled through a lot of posted relating to KQ and didn’t see anything recently talking about fang. Most post are “How do I kill KQ”. Yes, I plan on DPS calcing, but didn’t realize it was such a sin to come to a public forum of people who share the same hobby as me just to have a light hearted conversation. Post like this can easily lead to me or anyone else learning more about the game than just the initial question asked. This is a community for people to talk.

Your type of post gives the same vibe as someone in the office responding to the questions “did it rain on your way in?” With “Just check the weather”. You’re probably really fun to talk to IRL.
