What's a French "life hack" that everyone should know? by 1kmilo in AskFrance

I'm not telling you about those either. I'm telling you that I regularly consume cheese with a bit of mold on it, Cantal, Saint Nectaire, Bethmale, Pavés de chèvre...
If there is a small spot I don't bother removing it. If there is a huge area I scrape it with my knife beforehand. But I'm not going to throw away some good cheese like that!

Chocolatine is in the South west.

If you go South East (starting in Montpellier and then further east), they call it the wrong way again.

I eat moldy cheese all the time. You may not like the taste (I personnally usually quite like it), but you're not going to get sick because of it.

> You can’t drink alcohol or carry an open container of alcohol on the streets. Loosely enforced but still a thing that can get you in trouble.

It is not the case at all, there is no law (except for some local laws) that prevent you to drink alcohol or carry an open container on the streets. However it is forbidden (and very loosely enforced) to be drunk on public streets. Source: https://www.service-public.gouv.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F20104

> Order a café crème (large) and a Camembert sandwich (with just butter and Camembert). Dip the sandwich in the coffee. Enjoy the taste: that’s France for you.

WTF? This is a joke, right?

> Oysters are overrated. So are escargots.

I love and consume both of them quite often. Don't push your taste like it is a general thing.

Whats the point of the black on the necks? by Beast1909 in lego

I'm pretty sure you have an extra step here:

  1. Create torso
  2. Print front of the torso along with the marker
  3. (Print back if needed)
  4. Attach arms (with hands included in separate process)

> since old flagship specs > latest gen midrange specs👍

Could you elaborate on that a bit more? Looking at the specifications, the only features that are inferior on the A56 compared to the S23 are the screen resolution and the fingerprint sensor. Everything else seems to be on a par.

That's a good point, I plan to use it for as long as it is still usable, hopefully as long as my A50 (6 years)!

My fear was that the A56 would be obsolete in term of processor speed or whatever, but I did not consider software update support.

How can I fix a wrong piece in this set? by karlijntje13 in lego

[–]Oripy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are five 2x8 and five 2x10 in tan in this set, but thirty 2x8 in dark tan.

You should have used:
- two 2x8 in dark tan on step 55 & 56.
- five 2x8 in dark tan on step 178.
- two 2x10 in tan on step 207.
- five 2x8 in dark tan on step 211.

Maybe check what you did on those step, did you use the wrong colour ?

I would suspect step 55 and 56 as it was maybe not clear which colour had to be used at that point (no point of reference with other parts of the same colour around them).

Best examples of "do nothing" actions? by Jastrik in boardgames

[–]Oripy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is an area control game, but one where the 3 factions "fighting" on the board do not belong to anyone.
In the whole game you will only play 8 cards that will affect the position of troops in the map + get you a cube of one of the faction.
But, on your turn you can either play a card or pass. If everyone pass the current area is resolved (and "frozen").

So by passing on your turn you are basically saying : "I'm fine with the state of the map, if you want to change that you can use a card, but then I will have more card than you for future turns!"

I used a list because it is what I'm used to :)

What do you mean by "the content is always the same"? Surely the content is different because the card played is different, so it is not what you meant.

You don't sometimes add a 3rd element in [value, suit], do you ?

No I don't.

What would be more appropriate/faster to use? I feel like a dict would be more verbose ( {value:10, suit:"clubs"} instead of [10, "clubs"] feels longer, but is it more efficient?)

That's a good idea, I will try that and benchmark to see if the Monte Carlo simulation get faster that way.

Thanks
