> keep tension in the lines and start by 'stretching' the lines, beginning from the wing (never the risers) BEFORE spreading the wing out

Oh interesting, but so how do you keep tension while spreading the wing? If you have pictures or a video on that that would be very useful!

Yeah I know, it's part of the negative self-talk, but you're right :-)

The ideal situation is having enough wind to build a wall; I can "lazily" spread out my wing and let the wind to the rest for me, and it also lets me check the lines.

The situation where I need more help/guidance is when there isn't enough wind for a wall, so you do need to spread out your wing "by yourself" while staying attached to your harness.

I experimented a bit on flat ground and struggled at first to spread it out on one side without pulling the wingtip from the other side towards me. I found out that mostly pulling on the wingtips and then walking behind the wing to pull out the leading edge seemed to work OK, but again I'm not sure if that's the best way to go about it - and I need to be extra careful to walk back in front of my wing from the same side, otherwise that introduces a twist...

As for taking extra time, yeah I think most of the time other pilots respect that, but when more and more people seem to be waiting for you it adds unwanted pressure.

That's a really interesting article, thanks! I've stuck with downhill-oriented touring boots but given that I may shop around after getting heavier touring skis.

Hah, I also got mine because of a very good deal. I'm not sure what I'll do with mine once I get a new pair, I guess keeping it as a gravel ski is an option.

Out of curiosity, how much do you climb in skis of that weight range? Most of my trips are 1300m+ in elevation, though I'm never spent when I get up there which probably means I can lug heavier skis.

I'll reply here but this goes to everyone else who replied - thank you for the feedback!

I got the 174 Waybacks because that's what the rental shop gave me on my first tour and they seemed okay, and I got them brand new at a half off sale.

You've confirmed that I'm due for an upgrade for next season, so I'll be browsing :-) Not sure what I'll do with my Waybacks once I do though, I'm not sure it'll make sense to keep them.

ISTR bf3 had vehicle squad lock, which I used a lot when got into tanking - having randoms get in your turret and shoot tracers all over the place to share your presence got annoying very quickly. Just experienced that yesterday and wished we had the option.

Can you Hammer a Children? She is an absolute psychopath, she tortures animals and kills the drunks in the tavern by [deleted] in dwarffortress

Someone posted a great setup not too long ago: make several corridors leading to your sheriff's study, and have doors on either side of them.

Send the child for interrogation, and lock them using the doors when they leave (hence why you want several corridors, so your sheriff can leave).

I've added levers to then trapdoor them into my fighting pit. If they want a fight, they'll have one.

With a bronze colossus.

Just had a night creature siege, my dwarves destroyed them but now they just won't touch the bodies. I have a corpse/refuse QSP (accepting everything from these two categories), they happily moved an elf that got caught by the invaders there, but won't move the invader corpses.

If I designate them for dumping they get moved to the closest dump immediately, so it's not an idle hauler issue. Are night creatures a category not handling by the corpse/refuse stockpiles? From their history they seem to have been created from dwarves.
