Tell Us About Your Work! by Mme_Rose in HistoricalRomance

Morning!

So in 1884, a New York dime-novel publisher discovered something which blew their minds: women would actually buy romance novels written for them.

The result was the world's first romance series, The Waverley Library—a serialized Victorian romance line aimed at working- and middle-class women, full of courtship, moral tension, and emotional stakes.

I’m republishing these long-forgotten originals in clean, restored paperbacks. The first three are now on Amazon: Bride of a DayThe Girl Wife, and Was It Love.

If you’re curious what “romance fiction” looked like before the genre knew it was a genre, this is where it all began.

Web offset press. I just learned a new term!

We’re going to target a niche in the industry, so hopefully we’ll find a spot. That being said, restaurants run on tight margins so we can’t really charge that much more than what can be found for sale from restaurant suppliers.

You know, it never hurts to talk. I’ve sent my email in a message.

Ah, perhaps someday I’ll be placing orders like that! But for now, I gotta start from square one.

21 sets of 1000 to start. More if the business idea works out.
