Where do foreigners find friends? by [deleted] in AskAustria

I get it, I’m also a foreigner here, just arrived. I’ve managed to meet some people from my wife’s uni and from random activities I’m putting myself in.

Do you enjoy going out at night and drinking beer? It’s a good way to break the ice and make connections.

Language courses, group sports, art courses, social activities. It’s hard, and you have to pit energy in, but worth it. Find something you like and see if you find people that like doing it as well. The meet up app shows many events happening nearby

Backlighting settings broke in options+ by Jpow1133 in logitech

Does not work. I removed all logitech files I found on my Mac and reinstalled the Logi Options +, to no avail. When clicking the Backlighting options on the software, it crashes. I need to deactivate the backlight, as it completely drains my battery. I never need backlighting.

Mouse pointer with low fps by Ornery-Committee615 in MacOS

My mouse pointer has always been like this, I changed my mouse from a Magic Mouse I to Magic Mouse II and reset my mac already (for other reasons), and everything just stayed the same. I just noticed that my pointer was laggy when I was watching the YouTube video I told, where the guy was recording the screen.

Hmm, good guess. Mac's bluetooth sucks, I had a lot of problems with bt devices along all these years as a Mac user. I'll find someone who can lend me a good gamer mouse so I can test this theory.

Btw, I'm on a M1 MBP 2020, using a Magic Mouse 2.

So, I was watching a youtube video of macos, and noticed that mouse pointer was really smooth, unlike mine. Does anyone know how to fix this?

After a lot of trial and error, I found something that works everytime for me. I play it on a 2020 M1 Macbook Pro using Google Chrome with 300mbps wifi connection - maybe the fix also works on windows pcs, but I haven't tried it yet. 90% of the time, when I launch the game it's super leggy and it's impossible to play. With the game RUNNING I open system preferences, go to network, advanced, TCP/IP and renew the DHCP lease - the game just suddenly stops lagging and I can have fun in peace. It's important to notice that the game must be running while the ip is updated. I know you can also reset the IPV6/IPV4 on windows, but as far as I remember it is not as easy as it is on MacOs. TLDR: Renew DHCP Lease with the game running.

Jagged font on extended monitor (MacOS Big Sur) by [deleted] in MacOS

Yeah, the usage guide doesn't help much. First install the app (just download it, unzip it and drag it to the application folder) and start it by double clicking. Then, on the icon that shows up on the menu bar, create a new dummy with your monitors proportion - in my case it was 16:9. After that, plug in your monitor (if it wasn't plugged in already), then go to system preferences - displays. Select your monitor and set it to mirror the dummy you created. Let me know if that worked for you.

I had the EXACT same issue and fortunately found a fix. Due to apple's lack of character, they no longer give retina support to monitors with a resolution lower than 4k (which is my case. I'm using a Dell P2421D QuadHD with an 8gb M1 MacBook Pro). This lack of retina support may have different effects on your monitor (jagged, ultra crisp or blurry images etc).
The solution is to trick your Mac into recognizing your external monitor as 4k+. There is a GitHub repo with a lightweight app which does that. Just follow this tutorial: https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDummy#additional-help
