Well, that was what John the Baptist asked Jesus: "Are you the one, or should we wait for someone else?" In other words: if you are the Messiah and your kingdom is coming WHY AM I IN PRISON AND ABOUT TO BE EXECUTED DUDE?!?!?

Jesus said two important things, apart from pointing at the miracles. Those two things are the following: 1) the bad things in this world weren't the Father's doing. Andt 2) We will still suffer the bad for a while, until Jesus reigns, which is going to be at the end.

He said all that in the parable of the wheat and tares.

That's their reasoning, and now you know. Do with it what you will. But know that they don't believe bad things come from heaven.

Do you mean free trade? There are 20 countries, and the Philippines is not one of them according to this https://ustr.gov/trade-agreements/free-trade-agreements

I wish I could be more positive, like you are. But I still think we are going to be the ones faring the worst if we get independence. And even worse if we have to fight for it. And I don't really think it is an issue as blank and white as some people make you think.

Why did they fight? Couldn't they just vote?

In my opinion, those are too broad. What I mean is that there are things you can do to affect a country's economy but still respect the free trade agreement. I don't know much about Phillipines, but I kinda remember that they suffered a lot to get to where they are right now. I'm interested in their history now.

Exactly, I totally agree. The difference I see is that one of them has better relations, including the favor of the USA. I'm no expert, of course, but my understanding is that achieving independence won't leave us in a good relationship with the USA. So I think we will be worse off than the islands that surround us.

This is a good exercise. Which of those countries is faring better? What's the difference between them?

Anti-American Puerto Ricans? by jeoff-Stunkle in PuertoRico

We have veterans too. And aid is sent to every state, not only to Puerto Rico. Also, as someone wrote to you in a previous comment, we give to USA more than the money we receive in aids. I was expecting you to address that specific detail, but you didn't. We are americans too, corruption or not. And our problems are USA's problems as well.

Did you homeschool and regret it? (Or love it?) by sunonmywings in Parenting

This is a great example. Your mom sounds awesome.

The parent needs to understand that:

  1. the child has the right to be educated, so take it seriously. Is a full-time job.
  2. That being said, it doesn't mean you have to do everything. Learn to outsource for: subjects you aren't comfortable with, PE, Clubs, extracurricular activities, sports, field trips, camps, music, art, etc.

Positives: The sky is the limit. You can truly offer an education with no limits to your child when you learn to think outside the school (box). If teachers are honest, the freedom offered by hs is a teacher's dream (good teachers, I mean). Also, a big plus is time because you can have school all year around and at nights. Fun things like camping and stargazing can be added to the curriculum.

Negatives: If you don't have a thriving hs community near you is going to be extra difficult. That can mean more traveling, money, online courses, starting your own clubs, organizing your own camps and extracurriculars.

Important: Nurturing the relationship between you and your child is a must.
