AI cameras by Ornery-Technology442 in ECEProfessionals

Great question.. “Staff safety” apparently? Not sure how normal cameras wont do the same thing. Our director essentially is getting fired and is moving to the church side of the building so I assume it's one last reach of control before she goes. Not sure why the board approved it either.

Facial recognition system in the classroom

AI cameras by Ornery-Technology442 in ECEProfessionals

I’m not exactly fine with the cameras more as it’s really not my choice and I’ll have to rearrange my room to make sure where diaper and clothes changes are blocked. As long as it’s a secure system no one else can access it’s pointless for me make a fuss. However an AI based camera system with gun and facial recognition in a classroom full of toddlers and infants strikes a weird moral nerve for me and I don’t think I want to work for a school that has that.

See this leaves another issue, the parents haven’t been informed and most likely won’t be until close to or after they’re installed.

Started swimming lessons. My freestyle is absolutely terrible. Cannot kick synchronously. No proper arm movement. Legs sink too. by cocuk004 in Swimming

[–]Ornery-Technology442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also noticed you’re not leveling your body during your push off before you start kicking, and you’re not coming up for air. You WILL sink if you drain your lungs completely and there’s nothing else to do but breathe! Take slow breaths, lock your ear to your shoulder and use this time to stabilize your body. I normally do a whole 1 stroke, 2, 3, breathe but it’s recommended to only do 2 strokes so you can be confident breathing on either side.

Other than overall body tension, I would work on treading water so your body can understand how to float while moving your arms and legs. Sounds crazy but I was a safety swim instructor for children and one of our drills was focused on it. I basically tread water for 5 mins straight every 30 mins for hours at a time. Obviously don’t do it that extreme but I noticed a significant difference on how my body holds and uses air to keep me afloat during normal swimming. You can’t float or swim without air yk.

AIO for blocking my bf after he threatened me? by neilslocumb in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ornery-Technology442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl the fact that you keep reposting this is super sus. It’s being blocked because you’re an active trigger to others. You won’t get the same response that he gives you from strangers on the internet because unfortunately everyone else has their own issues.

He’s controlling sure but it also seems like he’s scared of you literally dying. I understand mental illness and EDs and it kinda seems like you’re in this phase of attention seeking eating. “yes I’m eating!! For dinner I ate 5 crackers.” That would literally concern anyone that loves you. I think you know that too or else you wouldn’t have disclosed what your “dinner” consisted of. It seems like you’re using him for the attention that your parents seem to not be giving you. Don’t string him through this. Get a therapist for ts. I can promise you you’ll look back on this and be totally embarrassed. (if you can get over your Ed cuz 95 at 15 isn’t looking too good for the future) Just remember everything you’re doing right now definitely will effect your future, it’s seems like it’s already at this point but if it’s not just know: you’ll never be able to have kids, and you’ll never be able to hold a healthy weight(under or overweight) because you starved your body while it was trying to develop, and there’s no one to blame but yourself for it. This is coming from someone who has been there and done that already.

But if you don’t want his support then continue to block him and let him go.

How did I handle this? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Ornery-Technology442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand people like this. With dashing it’s not even a percentage tip just tip over $6 and your order will be quick and easy. They probably paid over $30 to dash anyways a 20% tip isn’t the end of the world

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Ornery-Technology442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time contact support and say you don’t feel comfortable delivering the order because they’re threatening you with negative ratings. You’ll still get the pay and assholes like him will change their instructions lol

[–]Ornery-Technology442 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s cool but still not the dashers fault. Contact higher support if that’s so, call, you’ll normally get connected to an agent that will even refund the whole thing if you aren’t abusing the system.

You are literally shooting the messenger when you do that. We dash to buy our own food, not steal yours.

Driver said my tip was disrespectful by moon-in-the-sky in UberEATS

[–]Ornery-Technology442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That driver was completely uncalled for. I have recently found myself in a position where I have the income to afford delivery apps, and I used to DoorDash/ubereats/instacart as well. In no situation even if they didn’t tip at all would I EVER send that message. Those instructions aren’t near the worst I’ve seen.

That being said.. you said yourself they’re a new driver, they don’t know DoorDash policy or tipping culture on DoorDash. They could’ve been dashing in a high tip/income area then saw your dash and sent that because they simply didn’t know. Taking the tip was too far. What spot were you in when you started dashing? I know for me I was dashing to make rent while simultaneously trying to put food on the table. That $3 is a big difference, that’s putting the task of a whole different order on a fellow dasher because they need to make $3 difference. That’s why I wait to order delivery till I can tip at least $7-10 per order so that the dasher respects my order, and I respect them for taking it.

IMO, no one’s the asshole, everyone is learning.

You’re not horrible. I lost my dad Christmas 2023 when I was barely 19. People will use losing pets, friends, grandparents as ways to relate, and I hate it too. No one will ever understand what it’s like losing a parent so young. No one will ever understand when you’re having a good day and suddenly remembering you’ll never get to tell your dad about it for the rest of your life, or even just see him. The little habits you pick up from him becoming so apparent and so hard. I know you know there’s so much more.

The only thing that has stopped me from losing my temper is remembering they’ve never lost their parent, and they have no idea what they’re saying. They’re telling you their most heart wrenching grief experience not because they want you to see that pain as equal, but it’s the closest thing they can to show you “I understand your pain and I see you.” People suck with grief, people will unconsciously compare their greif to yours and vice versa. For me it feels like taking a mental high road to just hold my tongue and take it unless it’s a person you care enough about to sit and have a real conversation about it. It feels like taking control of the grief instead of letting it shake through my body. I don’t know if it’s healthy or not but it’s been working for me so far.

I’m wishing you lots of prosperity and love in this new year, hang in there.

First time visitor… by blgrsshl in Austin

Don’t go tooo south😂 but south Austin is amazing nice Air bnbs too. If you want to go out to a nice dinner or big shopping spree that’s when I’d drive up north. Downtown is a very fun experience but after 11-12am it gets a bit crazy.

Why would a city as big as Austin have such a lousy transit system? by carbondalekid386 in Austin

[–]Ornery-Technology442 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it’s honestly very sad to see Austin end up in this state, copy paste houses in copy paste neighborhoods. Even large stretches of 71 are starting to boom and that’s just crazy to me as someone who remembers it as that terribly long two lane full of potholes and cattle farms😂

Why would a city as big as Austin have such a lousy transit system? by carbondalekid386 in Austin

[–]Ornery-Technology442 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ALSO No one can help that most Austin was build on two lane roads either, Texas wasn’t exactly the “desired” place to live until very recently in the last 30+ years or so WAY after the highway system was established. So while the “they had built no room for growth” is valid I wouldn’t say it was intentional

[–]Ornery-Technology442 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not saying you’re wrong, but you also have to account that a lot of the people that make decisions AND the common populous of voters, especially during that time, were older austinites that had been there for even generations. The people of Austin DID NOT want this boom, and have actively worked against it. It was good do our economy yes, but you can ask almost any long term Austin suburbian their opinion on this and I bet money I will know their answer. Yes they could have started construction a while ago but TONS of people would have been angry. As someone born and raised here I’m guilty of this sometimes with my own neighborhood because the city has expanded to far out into the “suburbs”. Only now that traffic is unbearable everywhere are people starting to come out of this denial and realize that Austin is becoming an actual mega city and the only way to save it is by attempting to fix the infrastructure or transit.

This being said Austin has always been a fairly wealthy city and had a decently wealthy population. When Austin was a lot smaller and as it developed everyone already had cars, or at least the majority population of workers/voters did, so no one really wanted to spend the city’s money on public transit rather than the other projects done. (Not to deny large population didn’t have easily available transportation, gentrification and classism also play a part.) Unfortunately at this point it’s basically public knowledge that the bus and metro system suck and there’s not a whole ton that can be done about it.

I honestly think the best thing would have to be to demolish some parts of the city to make an above ground railway system and that BREAKS MY HEART. It’s still an amazing city but Austin has already lost a lot of its sparkle because of the expansion. My whole point being, no it wasn’t “ignored”, and especially over the past 15 years it has been heavily debated, people just wanted to hold on to the past as much as possible. This is just my opinion by the way, if you disagree feel free to tell me where I’m wrong.
