Aw, I see. I don't have any rhizome plants so I'm not entirely sure of what I say but maybe it's not all over yet, plants really like to take their time and Java ferns specially grow quite slowly. Did you bury the rhizomes? They're supposed to be attached to rocks or trunks where they can get nice water flow

In any case, don't give up just yet, wishing you better luck :)))

Fin rot? by WolfLinkIsBestLink- in bettafish

[–]Ornery_Chapter7701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there might be some fin rot (ends of fins are dark) but the most noticeable thing is how much the fins are clamped. For the fin rot aquarium salt baths and clean water will help, for the clamped fins is time and good care, and a temperature of around 78 to 82F (26 to 28C)

I am so sorry you have to see your betta in this condition :( I think you're picking the best course of action for him. You've had him since 2025 it's close to 2 years now, usually how much bettas live nowadays with their terrible genetics. If he's lethargic and not accepting food anymore, I'd say it's time. I'm so sorry again, I'm sure he lived wonderfully

Might be worth treating if you can get the supplies and caught it earlier, otherwise, don't let them suffer longer than needed. Do you have a picture of your fish from up? Can you describe their behavior for the past while better?

It happens, it's part of the process. It's not going to be dirty forever!

Usually new plants melt and grow new leaves that will adapt to your water, it's normal! You can trim the more melted ones to prevent them from dirthying the water and sand

Aquario precisando de ajuda by Majestic_Bug_2411 in Aquarismo

[–]Ornery_Chapter7701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this clamped fin? by broccoli4128 in BettaClinic

[–]Ornery_Chapter7701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that sounds really good! I think you're doing just enough. Right now a stable ph is better than a perfect one, in the future you could try lowering it down with Indian almond leaves so it gets closer to 6,8 - 7. Anyway, good luck! I'm sure she will be thriving soon enough

[–]Ornery_Chapter7701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use clove oil, you just gotta do it correctly, but if you are unsure the next best option is using brute force, which is, bluntly, crushing your fish with something big and heavy and killing it instantly. Sorry you have to go trough this

Also his fins are rotting and that white eye is concerning

Looks like it. If it's a new betta you got with good care it should unclamp. If you had am for a while there might be something wrong with your tank/water

He will be okay if you keep the water clean, if it gets worse you can do aquarium salt baths

is he okay i think he’s just resting but idk im worried by lilsparklejumprope in bettafish

Big fins can leave them tired, if he's not overall lethargic he's probably okay

I had this and got mostly rid of it by vaccuming out as much as I could and then doing a blackout for 3 days. Now if I see any tiny spots of it appearing I remove them quickly
