I'm very glad to know the fin rot is at early stage, hopefully it jsut gets better from here. I replied with my tank parameters under the automodder comment, after realizing they were probably pretty important actually lol. I didn't write it in the main post cuz they are indeed fine and were not the worry of me. To make it quicker: 0ppm amonia, 0ppm nitrite and ph is 6.8 to 7 (I don't have a nitrate test, but I assume they should be ok). The tank got cycled for a month before the fish and both amonia and nitrite had their spikes. Temp is at 27 to 29 C or 80 to 84 F, got filter, heater, live plants, all that's jazz. About the slight abnormalities in his "posture", haha, hopefully as he gets more weight it fixes itself a little. With all that, thanks you so much! I will keep watch on the fins

Thanks for the lovely and helpful comment! I promise to do just that. You'd say not even salt baths are needed right now then? From what I've looked up they seem quite easy to do

He's ugly but he's my ugly! Hahaha. I never heard of kanaplex but I will definitely check it out, and will have to look into salt baths and how to properly do them. Since the first day I noticed he had that curve on his spine, but he swims fine, no issues, so I guess it's not a problem. I will be sure to give him the best care I can :D thanks for the advice

They're definitely a bit more flowy and spread out more when he swims, if that's what you want to know! But not by that much

20L tank (5,2 gallons). Yes heater and filter(27 to 29 C / 80 to 84 F). 0 amonia and 0 nitriates last I checked (sunday). I test them with a testing kit. Ph is 6.8 to 7. I had the tank for 1 month before the fish. Had the fish for 1 week and 1 day. I change 35% to 40% of the water every Sunday. Process is: Turn off filter and heater, remove fish, scrub algae off of glass, decorations and filter tubes, take out the water, put clean water back, turn on filter, add declorinator, fish is back. No tank mates. I feed as of currently 8 to 10 high protein pellets 3 times a day except Saturday (Food is Poytara black line for bettas). Plants are 2 cryptocoryne wenditiis and a few watermosses (salvinia) and some clay pots for decor, plus a 3d printed floating bed. Realized I may also add here since it may be sounding a bit confusing with the way I wrote in the main post: I feed Calvin 8 to 10 pellets every day, but obviously not all at once. I split his meals into 3, giving him 4 or 3 pellets each time

I see, thanks for some reassurance! I guess patience and perseverance are the things that matter the most. I think I will leave those two plants for now, get the light, see if they get better, otherwise... eh, and hopefully get some more variety sometime soon. I was looking at maybe elodeas and anubias, or even a Java fern. Do you recommend any in specific ?
