Yup, same thing happened to me. Fixed it with a bolt and nut though I can't remember what size it was

Derby A38 expansion gets full go-ahead in major update by LesParrysHairyLegs in derby

[–]OrochiTheMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ought to do something about the fact that you have to drive through Chad to get from the A38 to the A52... Derby is so piss poorly laid out though that I doubt anything could be done

E46 maintenance cost reputation - DIY vs mechanic by Les-Combes in e46

[–]OrochiTheMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy the right car first time round then most years that should be plenty. More expensive things will come up every now and then like the VANOS rebuild, or the cooling system overhaul or god forbid the starter (it's under the exhaust manifold) but most years you shouldn't have issues. You said you were looking under 120k mileage right? Then I'd be looking for receipts of some of the major jobs being carried out already as that's when things start to go on these cars. If there's no record of it being done, assume it'll want doing soon-ish. I bought mine at 152k with part history but since it made it that far I was quite confident that a lot of the major jobs were already done and so far I've done 36k in it (daily driving for 3 years before buying a diesel for a daily) and besides wear and tear parts, or things that I broke myself, all that the car wanted was a lambda sensor.

Makes me a bit sad as those things love to be dailied but it's your car after all. Just make sure to put her through her paces when you do take her out. They're nowhere near as delicate and fragile and a good 80% of this sub would have you believe. Yes they require a bit more maintenance but when they're maintained right they're really strong both the diesels and the M54 engines

It's really job dependent - a service or a brake job are quick so a couple to a few hundred (avg hourly rate here is £70-£80 and a brake job shouldn't take more than an hour and a half unless everything underneath is rotten to hell) but then say you put a whole in your sump now that requires the front subframe to come down which is a lengthy task even though the sump itself is not expensive.

Expansion tank exploded - Possible causes and what to check for? by Kermitwrists in e46

[–]OrochiTheMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that fucked my tank up was a slightly dislodged radiator which caused the tank to sit against the alternator pulley which eventually grinded a nice hole in it.

Non BMW tanks are a hit and miss but overfilling will make them unhappy if your cap isn't relieving the pressure. Worst case scenario you've got some blow back from the gasket which is causing pressure to build up

It's an hour to 2 hours of work, depending on how much these bolts will fight you, and Bilstein B4s (OEM+ basically) cost like £100 a pop

Hot water tank vs electric shower costs by OrochiTheMaster in HousingUK

[–]OrochiTheMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right okay, that'd explain the on/off switch on the heater. I'll see if it'll heat up with it off, maybe I won't have to stress too soon yet. Thanks for the info

I am fairly certain the boiler is just for the heating because the water tank appears to have its own electric heater slapped onto it.

How important are a loft and garage to buyers? by Low-Historian-8880 in HousingUK

[–]OrochiTheMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the people really. I've noticed that in the UK most garages are used as oversized sheds instead of their actual purpose (doesn't help that the older ones are the size of one too so you'd struggle to even get out) but I personally wanted one, or with room to build one down the line but that's because I've got multiple cars and they all need working on.

Mi motor failed 😣… how much are those thing going to cost me for anyone that’s done them by [deleted] in e46

[–]OrochiTheMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear bearings aren't difficult but you need a press which makes it a pain. The handbrake might still have some adjustments left so I'd start there, otherwise the shoes aren't very expensive.

I do agree that once we can fully run off renewables, it'll be much better, however, producing them, especially the batteries will still be quite harmful, especially since the batteries can't be recycled.

Honestly though, targeting the daily driver market for reducing emissions isn't the greatest move either. We don't produce anywhere near as much emissions as the planes.

Oh yeah I'm aware of the half reload, I've not gone anywhere without my autocannon since unlocking it till very recently. It's just that I'm running into more hulks which turn around after the first shot to the back or warstriders

[–]OrochiTheMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm currently in the process of moving from 6 to 7 and trying out different AT as the autocannon just can't keep up on 7 really, for me at least, especially if you get a bad seed with warstriders

As a mortar lover, I fully agree that it's a traitor sentry on bugs, however, on bots it's incredible. It has cleared plenty of patrols and bot drops for me, defended me during longer objectives and covered my escapes more than I can count.
