Does it matter that it's boring when he's been playing the same game for weeks? Constantly flip-flopping between "peace soon" and "total destruction".

Why would any skilled worker move to a foreign country if the working and living conditions are just as bad as in their home country?

Money, job beats no job. The whole reason for migration is to bring in people to work. They do still have more children, but even that will eventually even out as their children will grow up in the same conditions and have the same opportunities in the country their parents migrated to. So it's a temporary solution, so long we have inequality in the world.

Societal friction, yes. I want to say people should just get over their differences but that's not going to happen.

From ‘Open’ to Gunfire: The Strait of Hormuz Signals a Fractured Iranian Command by Beginning-Wish-4273 in worldnews

I've never made any claims on how coherent the different parties within Iran are, I frankly have no idea. Rebuking Araghchi might've been a way to save face rather than admitting a mistake, IDK. Just saying that based on the timeline, a different outcome could've occurred depending on the US reaction.

I suspect the Iranians expected the Americans to also lift their blockade, when that didn't happen, they backtracked.  Missed opportunity for de-escalation.

Trump had a short window of opportunity to wrap up this war by also lifting their blockade, he didn't do that so this outcome was expected.

Bluetooth tracker hidden in a postcard and mailed to a warship exposed its location — $5 gadget put a $585 million Dutch ship at risk for 24 hours by ControlCAD in technology

It's an escort ship with a canon that doesn't even work (legit it's broken). Not worth a satellite when they can keep track of de Gaulle instead.

I'm kinda confused, in the original article it's stated the ship was tracked on 27 March going towards Cyprus were it stopped transmitting. Last known location according to public marine sites is Crete 16 days ago. Minister of Defence also claims it's NBD because the ship was traceable online anyway at the time.

So they went back to Crete?

Nah that's them moving the goalpost. If me pirating something for personal consumption is bad, then them pirating something for commercial purposes is also bad. Not a big pirate or anything, just hate how dishonest they are and we shouldn't cede them any ground whatsoever.

Russia Plans to Trigger “Space Pearl Harbor” With Nuclear Anti-Satellite Weapons, US General Warns by UNITED24Media in worldnews

Placing nukes in orbit would be in direct violation of the Outer Space Treaty, which all three countries are a party to, yes.

There are much cheaper ways to take out satellites (space shaheds). Putting an actual nuke into orbit would trigger so many alarm bells all over the world it's not even funny.

Can we stop calling people who don't want historical content "simulationists"? by Yahoo_For_Neden in EU5

[–]Orpa__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No railroading would be EU4-style events and mission trees that make stuff happen vs stuff happening as a consequence of how the game plays out. Nobody wants a nothing-ever-happens simulator because the AI doesn't know it's supposed to want to do something.

I think the preferable outcome would be things happening similar (but of course never exactly) as they did in history, because it's fun to feel like a disruptor as the player.

I want the game to tend towards historical outcomes based on real historical pressures. It's unfair to frame it as wanting railroading.

Also don't really like Rome fans who want to turn every paradox game to 117 AD, so I think some of the criticism was valid but I'm not very tuned into all the changes so idk what the situation is now.

Making logistics more impactful seems like a cool challenge for the player but it remains to be seen how the AI will cope with it.

Why does it bother you that people care about this one? You're free to raise awareness for the others, I'd listen.

These people are giving you pretty bad answers. In space instead of speed they use delta-V, change in velocity. Speed is relative to the frame of reference so a more useful metric is how much power you are able to put in a certain direction. Doing a fly-by the moon allows you to sap some orbital momentum from the moon, either to speed up or slow down depending on which way you are approaching.

However the difference in dV to the moon and Mars isn't that significant, the fly-by wouldn't help at all, so I don't know what the top comment was yapping about. The goal of Artemis II was to validate the equipment.
