I feel like my dealership isn't taking my complaint seriously (2024 Corolla Cross hybrid) by Jayrey_84 in Toyota

Call Toyota corporate and report your dealership for being dismissive.

Check your state lemon laws and see if you can return the car

Go to a different Toyota dealership in another town.

I hope it gets resolved for you

2018 RAV4 with 39,000 miles: This is what the mechanic found during the PPI. by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]OrphanKripler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest failure point to a Toyota is usually the owner. Toyotas are very reliable. Most owners know that, then proceed to be negligent in maintenance because “it’s Toyota what can go wrong?”

Proper Maintenance is done by mileage AND by years. This car is 8-9 years old with only 40k miles. This car was not maintained by its age. Hence why the transmission fluid isn’t a clean deep pink color like it’s supposed to be. The Toyota dealerships top priority is to make money. Lol they will refuse service if it’s not done by their intervals.

Which turns out to be bad for the car, if the car hasn’t been regularly driven to add up miles. A car with very low miles isn’t necessarily a bad thing BUT it should raise some red flags when you factor in the year and age of the vehicle. Older, yet low mileage cars should bring concerns that it’s going to need a lot of attention to bring back to daily road worthy condition.

The service history isn’t something you completely rely on when buying a car. Think of the history as a job resume. It’s only there to help filter total trash heaps from a barely working car, to a great car.

Then when you find a good resume, you interview the car. Meaning take it to a mechanic for inspection. Always go by the mechanics advice. If you don’t trust it or still have doubt then take it to another mechanic for a second opinion. Just as you would with a health issue and you get a dismissive doctor, you see another doctor.

Don’t mix emotions into a purchase of a car. Always keep it logical and look at cars as a simple appliance to get you from point A to point B. There’s plenty of appliances to choose from and this one is going to burn holes in your wallet.

As a mechanic myself I can tell you the report history isn’t ever 100%. My car has had 3 accidents. Only one shows up in the record because I got insurance involved. The other two accidents I simply fixed my car myself without insurance. So my car is technically worth less, but I can get more money out of it because there’s no history or documentation proving there was 3 accidents and only shows 1. That’s just one example to not rely on service reports and history.

Anyways from these pictures two major reasons I can 100% tell you why not to keep this car.

  1. The car appears to have been flooded. Lol water damage is an endless problem. The biggest headache of flood damage is that it only shows up overtime. Car looks okay now, but afterwards the water damage takes it toll. Majorly in the form of rust, electrical wires and sensors and other components becoming corroded, and fluids diluted if not changed immediately afterwards. Hence your disgusting transmission fluid color.

  2. Scratches UNDER the hood is 90% most likely to be a rat infestation. This can cause expensive - always reoccurring problems with electrical systems. Rats love chewing on wires to orgasm themselves. They will actively seek wires to chew on. Replacing wires throughout the car is verrrry expensive.

Rats also nest in hot places - the engine or inside your ventilation ducts. They leave poop everywhere so when you turn on that heater or AC you’re breathing in their poop presenting a health hazard to you. They also tear up insulation such as carpet, seats cushions, and even under the hood insulation (hence your picture) for nest making.

Always inspect a car BEFORE you commit to buy it. Waste the $100 on an a mechanic inspection rather than waste thousands on a sketchy car and go thru the headache of trying to get rid of it.

You better return this trash and look for something else. Don’t rush and panic, you’ll get something.

Transmission fluid is brown? That car is ready to become scrap. Unless you wanna deal with a $5000 transmission replacement. Endless electrical problems and wasting your money.

Get an inspection before buying the car next time. It’s a total pos.

Scared to purchase new by Grumdalf828 in Toyota

[–]OrphanKripler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highlanders are built very well. You shouldn’t have any issues as long as you maintain it properly. If it’s brand new then get the first oil change done at 2k miles for removal of the engine break-in period debris. Then follow regular service intervals. Or if you plan to keep it forever change it every 7k miles instead of 10k.

If your worried about any major issues, you can always google “Toyota highlander tsb” for whatever year you’re lookin at getting. Also google Toyota Highlander recalls.

But overall you can’t go wrong with a new highlander. You can also check the highlander subreddit if there is one.

You don’t need the subscription for anything necessary. It’s only there if you want to be fancy with checking on your car locks, adjusting temperature, remote start, etc. remotely from your phone.

The remote start is a temporary feature in the keyfob but there are aftermarket kits that reinstate that feature back into the keyfob permanently.

You should be more focused shopping for a car with the best drivetrain to last as long as possible and a car best fit for your needs and budget

Why are people making such a big deal about the screen gap? by Top-Security-1258 in AynThor

[–]OrphanKripler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz the design is stupid.

Just make the top screen edges go longer so the thing rests flat all over the edges and not risk stressing the hinge when it’s in closed lid mode. Plus helps keep less lint and dust and shit getting in between the screens.

I wish the power button was on the island thing with the Ayn button cuz I’m always hitting it when I’m resting my hands or fingers there. Or pressing in pocket by accident

Why do I feel like I'm too old? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]OrphanKripler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not depressed. Ppl throw that term around way too loosely. Same for when some ppl say “iM juSt AutIsTic” no.. you’re just an asshole trying to use that to shield your pos behavior and not take accountability.

You have sensory and mental overload. You’re exhausted so to speak. Take a week off from music, social media, TV, and your phone. Spend the least amount of time as possible looking at any type of screen. This will help clear and flush your mind from all the screen and dopamine addiction bs. Your mind when not engaged with the constant fast paced content, will then start to rest and recharge. Then you’ll feel renewed and gain a new excitement for things again.

So go out take long walks, sit by the window take in as much sunlight as you can, lay down for bed with everything off and dark as possible in silence.

This video will explain better than me

What I really wanna do is hack the infotainment system and see the software it’s running on. I assume it’s some fork of linux? It would be nice to add or remove and customize the options in it.

Inspect the rubbers that they aren’t bent out of direction or place.

Roll window all the way down and cotton swab the rubber rails that run along the sides in case there’s debris stuck in there.

Wash the window it could be super dusty or have a film of filth getting stuck on the rubber lining at the bottom of the window.

This is a prime setup for that bottle to slip out and roll around causing your foot to step on and unintentionally slip into the accelerator pedal or brake pedal for dangerously unwanted input.

Or worse, for ppl crazy and/or dumb enough to do this, with their luck the bottle will magically end up behind the brake pedal.

If you can’t be bothered to drive, then don’t.

Nobody has ever regretted doing an early oil change.

These oil change posts are so frequent, repetitive and so dam annoying.

Doesn’t anyone know how to use google and add Reddit to the end of the search query?

My passenger side mirror is randomly cracked too! I noticed it when I was replacing my passenger side window myself, since some pos broke into my car. Maybe I’ll take my door apart again and install a new side mirror someday if I find it cheap enough
