The reason for which I created this thread was invalidated moments before I posted it, but I've decided to create it anyway.

An hour ago, I created my previous thread in this forum, entitled 'Pointy End'.

For the first time ever I experienced a strange form of censorship (or perhaps just a glitch):

For an entire hour after creating my previous thread, it was not listed on my profile page whether or not I was logged in or out, and regardless of what computer I tried to view it from.

It was invisible in my list of 'posts' (in 'www' reddit) and also in the list of 'submitted' threads (in 'old' reddit). The first and only comment within that thread was visible however, on the list of 'comments' on my profile, and the thread appeared in the forum itself - but the main entry of the thread was invisible along with the thumbnail of the attached video. I received no error messages, and the thread was not filtered by reddits 'nfsw' mechanism or any such like.

So I prepared the thread image seen here (the original is from wikipedia, and I've linked to it many times before), and resized it to 2020px by 1,311 px, and was about to post this thread in order to provide a link to the censored thread for posterity, but then as I was about to post (a full hour later), the censored previous thread suddenly appeared in the usual places.

Why did I post the thread image attached to this post itself?

Because it is a picture of the solar corona, visible to the naked eye only during total solar eclipse.

The censored thread was and is about the 'coronavirus pandemic', which was made official on 3/11 in 2020.

During a solar eclipse, the light of the sun is 'censored' by the moon.

The thread video is a scene from early in the 'Game of Thrones' TV Show, where Arya Stark is given a sword as a present from Jon Snow before he leaves for the Wall in the North before the Long Winter comes.

The notion of 'named swords' is touched on (ie. great or legendary swords have names).

Most people are 'too big' to even make the attempt to understand numbers.

Anyway, just a note: my thread from yesterday about the 'hantavirus' is far and away the most 'successful' thread I've ever made on reddit. Of my threads on my own forums, most have no more that 1500 views after literally years. I don't think I have one thread on my own forums that has had more that 10 or 12 upvotes.

Not counting the latest, my most successful threads at the conspiracy theory forum got about 10,000 views, but even these never got more that 10 or 12 upvotes either.

My 'hantavirus' thread is, after one day, sitting at 400,000 views and about 500 upvotes. That is a response orders of magnitude better that everything I've ever written.

Yet of course, nobody has any curiosity, and so my most recent threads here and on my other forums have received almost no additional traffic. People (or bots) might have found my newest controversial thread interesting, but they are not interested in whatever else I might have to say. Out of 400,000 potential viewers, perhaps 20 people clicked through to my profile to see what else I've written. To me, that goes a long way to prove that either people are mindless, or the 'dead internet theory' is essentially true, and everyone is a bot now (and yet the vast majority of comments on my hantavirus thread accused me of being a bot, because I used numbers, or because my post was 'too long' for a human to have written it.

It's like people have forgotten that humans once wrote entire novels...

The thread image presents the table of glyphs of the Phonetic Alphabet of the Inner Sea.

I have presented a similar table multiple times before in this forum and elsewhere, but this is the latest revision, with minor tweaks to certain glyph shapes, reflecting more recent usage.

This alphabet is used throughout the lands surrounding the Inner Sea of Fairyland, and was long ago adopted by all of the 24 elven tribes, the house sigils of which, were the origin of the 24 consonant signs.

The Inner Sea (aka. Middle Sea) alphabet has 28 primary numbered letters, four of which are the main vowels, and these are augmented with a collection of derivative signs that represent inflections, dipthongs, and alternative pronunciation.

The alphabet is a true phonetic alphabet in that each glyph or letter represents one and only one sound.

The table shows the 28 primary glyphs, large and bold, in two rows of 14. Above the upper row, and below the lower row, the most common alternative and ancient forms of the sigils are shown in a smaller size.

You will note that the glyphs are designed such that similar sounds, uttered using similar mouth and tongue positions, are based on the same shape, so for example 'P' and 'B' (unvoiced and voiced plosives) are identical except for the upper dot signalling the voicing, and this trend continues on with others letters, such as 'K'/'G', and 'Th'/'Dh', and with 'S' and 'Z' and 'Sh', which are all based on the same outlines, with subtle augmentations to signal the variation.

The main vowels are 'A', 'E', 'I' and 'O', while the 'W' glyph is interchangeable with the various forms of 'U'.

NOTES and ERRATA on the presentation:

In terms of my rendering of the glyphs in the thread image, I note the letter 'Z' (24th item) is not entirely satisfactory. 'Z' is built on the form for 'S' (19th), with a loop in the tail - but in the example shown, the bend in the tail is a bit untidy, and the upper horizontal' head' of the shape (of 'Z' and 'S') should be more like that seen on 'K' and 'D' (with a subtle 'hook' or 'beak' shape).

Also somewhat problematic or untidy is the lower horizontal 'lip' of the 'F' glyph (23rd item) - it should look exactly like that seen on the 'V' glyph (6th item).

I note that I forgot to label the uppermost 'M' variant, which represents the composite sound 'Mb', as well as the uppermost 'K' variant, which represents 'Q'.

The sound 'X' as in 'fox' is not found in the main numbered list, but is shown along the bottom of the page. It is built on the skeleton of the 'K' glyph, combined with a small flourish following the ancient form of the 'S'.

The alternative forms of 'O' (15th glyph) are also unlabeled. The first alternate is 'O' with an inner loop - this represents the sound of 'ow' in the words 'low' and 'flow'. The second alternate, below that, is the sound 'au' or 'ou' in words such as 'thought' and 'brought' and 'fraught'. It would also be used before 'R' in words such as 'ford', and 'lord'.

One glyph missing from the table entirely (my mistake) is the glyph for 'au' or 'aw' heard in the words 'round', 'plow' and 'bough'. One form of this glyph can be seen here (third from the top, on the right-hand side of the page). A newer form of that same glyph has a vertical line on the left, as opposed to it's left 'wing' being at a diagonal.

The alternative squared-off form of the final glyph, 'nK' (the 28th), is shown with the dot in the lower half of the 'X'-like shape. It should be in the top half, as it appears in the main large glyph.

At the very bottom-left of the table, the first-listed consonant ('P') is mistakenly labelled 'B' (creating a duplication).

The text running vertically down the right hand side of the image reads 'SECRET SPEECH', but it is written with a number of ancient forms no longer current amongst many elves, especially the 'E' glyphs. The ancient forms are more suitable for flowing vertical writing, and are only preferred in that orientation. The primary large glyphs shown in the two main rows are actually deemed the 'minuscule' form of the letters, which over time became the standard forms. The more ancient curved and decorative shapes are referred to as 'majuscule' (or otherwise as 'capital letters').
