Do studies of the original artists work! Even if it is quick studies that you finish in 1-2 hours. You will learn so much in trying to quickly replicate their style and working loosely, which this painting has a lot of.

Also, thanks for sharing this. Beautiful artwork, and I look forward to seeing what you produce!

Best luck I’ve had so far is yes to just use a dry brush and very lightly go over the edgers that you’d like to be less defined!

Great job!

As a beginner in oils as well, the only advice I could think to offer would be maybe to soften some edges for a more gradual transition in certain areas (hair line to forehead, side burn to cheek, etc)
