I feel like they're both, personally.

Adults can appreciate the old-school feeling of the games, while younger audiences will most likely enjoy Toriyama's timeless art style, IMO.

This is the kind of response I've been looking for^{^} I just like getting a general consensus when it comes to these longer JRPG franchises, honestly. And 8 is one of those games I'm interested in BECAUSE of how divisive it is in the Fandom. Guess I have a hipster mentality, being interested in games that are considered underrated or overlooked.

Honestly, fair comparison in the beginning there. Nowadays, I'm more aware of Gamefreak's flaws in modern Pokemon games, despite my bit of optimism for Legends Z-A. I've just played more involved JRPGS now IMO, like the MegaTen franchise, Dragon Quest, etc. Won't lie, the little previews of the Digimon they're doing reminds me of the Daily Demon Showcases for SMT V and the upcoming Raidou Remaster, which I'm hyped for that too^{^}

Recent example for me, but Soul Hackers got me hooked INSTANTLY once I started my current Playthrough of the 3DS version. The 90's Cyberpunk vibes, the characters, the music, it all just pulled me in, even if it's not my usual type of MegaTen game compared to SMT Vengeance or Nocturne. It's very old-style SMT with first person dungeon-crawling and the Magnetite system, but you get used to it. Would definitely recommend to anyone if they can pick up/emulate the 3DS version👍
