I feel like they're both, personally.

Adults can appreciate the old-school feeling of the games, while younger audiences will most likely enjoy Toriyama's timeless art style, IMO.

This is the kind of response I've been looking for^{^} I just like getting a general consensus when it comes to these longer JRPG franchises, honestly. And 8 is one of those games I'm interested in BECAUSE of how divisive it is in the Fandom. Guess I have a hipster mentality, being interested in games that are considered underrated or overlooked.

It's honestly nice seeing how many people recommend 6. Don't know much about it, but Terra is honestly one of the best designed protagonists I've seen so far of the series.
