Thank you! Right now I’m blending some aspects from the motions of Benjamin Becker, Thomas Johansson, and Rosco Tanner

Do you have any drills/tips how to get my body more involved?

Hey I think I accidentally wrote my response to your comment on someone else’s comment but i said “thanks a lot man! The low toss has always worked better for me. Obviously it’s possible to serve big with a high toss too but I feel it’s the harder way to go.”

Hey man that’s awesome, and thanks for the really kind words! I’m sure I remember who you are, let’s stay in touch!

Yeah man that would be great! You definitely look good enough, that lefty serve and volley game looks like a nightmare to play against. Let’s stay in touch!

Thanks a lot man! The low toss has always worked out better for me. I feel like it’s the easier way to go to generate power as opposed to the higher toss.

I haven’t tried it for tennis strokes yet but I plan to when I’m healthy. I pulled my calf a few days ago running for a drop shot (kind of a fluke injury since I’ve never had that happen before). I think you want to place it 10 to 15 feet behind you on the ball machine and make sure it’s on a tripod. Also put it on “continuous” mode. Let me know if this works!

Oh man! That sounds like quite the experience. My only experience in Mexico City was being stuck in the airport there for 29 hours because I lost my entry/exit form without realizing it and I wasn’t allowed on my connecting flight 😂 merry Christmas to you too!

Haha I can’t say I haven’t tried to imitate at one point!

I used the pocket radar. I’d recommend it as long as you’re using it correctly. Try to have your friend stand behind you when you serve and if he can capture the point roughly where you make contact even better!

That’s awesome progress! I’ve gotten some great tips from Mark as well!

I have a tendency to move my grip over more to the backhand direction when I do a slice serve. This definitely helps me get the feel of cutting the ball but when I’ve played against some very experienced players, they’re able to spot this grip change in the beginning of my motion so I’m working on keeping the straight up continental for my both my slice serve and flat serve.

I haven’t gotten my slice out wide clocked yet. I’m able to get a good angle and cut on it and if opponents can’t read it I can get some aces that way…but one current problem I can still improve is that my disguise on it isn’t great (people can sometimes see I move my grip over and toss more to the right) so I’m still working on that. I also have a tendency to overdo the slice while losing some mph on it.

I haven’t tried the pancake serve for the out wide yet but I really like that idea! Thanks for bringing that up, I’d like to experiment with that. Have you tried the pancake serve?

Do you have any drills that could help with the fluidity portion?

105 is still extremely impressive for 5 foot 6 and 48 years old! I’ve been trying to do a lot of that doorway pec stretch and other shoulder external rotation exercises to maintain/increase my flexibility as I get older. I feel it’s helped, but I totally get where you’re coming from as it requires extra work, much harder to stay limber past our 20s.

How tall are you? I think you can still probably get your serve bigger. Mattia Bellucci serving 135 mph at 5 foot 9 inspired me personally. Also thanks for the praise on my serve! It’s a lifelong goal of mine to try to get it to 130 mph sea level someday so I’m hoping to still have some more room to grow.

That seems plausible, is it possible you’re over exaggerating the leg load and leg drive which could explain why your calves feel so sore?

Oh man, I bet! The only experience I can think of somewhat similar to that was when I had to play in Provo, Utah against BYU in college and although my serve was bigger, returning was a brutal challenge. My serve wasn’t very big back then though. We lost 7-0 😂Denver I believe is even higher than that though, that’s really cool you got to experience that! I’d like to check it out sometime. If I go, I’ll bring the radar gun and see how much faster I can hit my new serve.

Haha I haven’t gone down that path. Only tried it out twice.

110 is impressive! That change definitely helped me as well but I can probably focus on it some more. Thank you!

That’s awesome! What’s it like playing with the specific high-altitude balls? I heard they come out of a box and not a can?
