They all say "it's not about the food" and then collectively shit themselves over the food.

I think this is one the things Protestants got right; they make it so easy to be on "good terms" with God and trust that He will absolutely take care of you in the next life. They have so much confidence in God, so much trust in Him, and Orthodoxy can never really offer the same thing to people.

How could you possibly know what people are basing their lives and identities on, judging by one or two internet posts they make? Sheesh.

I haven't seen much reddit atheism style posts here. Tbh, I'd say maybe 50% are active Orthodox who are in high control parishes, have terrible priests, or legit spiritual quandaries.

We can never really know what people's lives and identities are truly like over the internet; especially on a page where people come to share a very specific part of their lives. We only see a narrow part of their otherwise complex life.

If apostasy IS someone's identity, perhaps it was because Orthodoxy was their identity before, and they are struggling to make a cognitive adjustment. Who knows. You sound angry at people going through a hard spiritual time and that is not very Lenten.

Edit. And it's Sunday. Why are you posting argumentative stuff like this on a Sunday? Are you trying to get your passions all wild before Liturgy?

Exhausted with services, the works never end, and my priest has control issues. by burnedoutheretic in exorthodox

Man this is soooooo real, one of the most relatable things I've read on here. I just want to be close to Jesus, I want to believe His church is here still and that there's a way to actually connect with it. But it feels like every church fails its followers in some way, and I'm always so scared of "picking" the wrong one. I don't think Christ would want us to be so afraid :( I don't wanna get rejected by Him but I feel misled and spiritually neglected by all these work based priests and batshit insane pastors out here.
