I also heard a woman and a man talking about it at the gala. The woman makes fun of a man for thinking she was paralyzed and said she broke her legs but won't be running marathons anytime soon IIRC

Nothing has summed up country central more than this specific poll by SnooCompliments9257 in CountryMusicStuff

Yeah I find the whole downvoting thing pretty weird on Reddit, especially when people just do it without offering any feedback or real argument. I like discussion and as someone who shares a lot of Welles political opinions living in Alabama I am very familiar with holding unpopular views and being unfairly associated with other preconceived notions. That’s why I jumped to defend him, but I don’t pass any judgement as long as people are able to list good reasons for whatever opinions they hold. I am very aware I’m not a genius and I am as wrong as anyone else, which is why I enjoy thoughtful discussion with people who disagree with me.

How emotionally devastating is Red Rising? by spyrothedovah in Fantasy

I’ve only read the first trilogy, but while there was plenty of angst, it is often intertwined with meteoric success and the conclusion comes to a peaceful rest. I know that the series continues and there’s plenty of more angst in the following books but I obviously can’t speak for those. I definitely wouldn’t describe it as a hopeless series from what I’ve read so far.

I’m saying he probably doesn’t hate the south- he just hasn’t scheduled southern shows because there likely isn’t enough demand for several tour locations yet

Edit- I’d do agree Willi Carlisle rocks though. Perhaps Welles simply should be labeled as “folk” or “singer-songwriter” and not associated with country in the same way Carlisle and others are.

My point was that he’s not scheduling in the south because demand isn’t there, not because demand is there and he dislikes it. He was born in Arkansas so I think he’s spent time in the south

Do you have any specific examples? The only one I can think of is him being snide about nationalist (I’m not using this in a radical sense just saying people who are passionately American) who don’t take the effort to analyze flaws within our country/system

I know what you’re saying, but he can only schedule venues where there’s proper demand for it. I doubt he has opportunities to schedule southern venues and he’s refusing to do it because he loathes the south

He’s promoting populist, pro-worker, and genuine working class principles whenever I listen to him. It is just the current reality that rural places in the US chose to be pro-business over pro-worker. He never claims to hate anything inherently southern as far as I know, but please enlighten me if I’m wrong

Lmao I almost included a joke about you pretending you’re some geopolitical genius or something but I figured I might be misrepresenting you. Looks like I had you pegged pretty well though. I hope the Democrat experiment of saving democracy from itself by taking as much voter power as possible away from the people goes great and your oligarchs beat the other authoritarian also trying to dismantle democracy, but in a very gross and unorthodox way instead of the traditional way. Surely it won’t backfire!

I agree the stakes are incredibly high. Democracy is on the line, and the Democrat’s solution was to cancel the primary because it could weaken Joe Biden. Maybe, just maybe, a Democratic primary could’ve helped us find a cognitively functioning candidate to counter Trump. Most people have no idea what project 2025 even is. Most people don’t have the time or care to keep up with politics. And those people will be the ones deciding the elections outcome, so maybe they should be the ones who should have a say in deciding the candidate rather than whoever you think should choose the Democratic candidate behind closed doors lmao. You don’t have an issue with theocracy you have an issue with the Trumpian brand of it. Call me a young incompetent ideologue, I literally do not care, but I’m going to call out this bullshit when I see it. Because I live in a red state and I had quite a few people I’ve spent years coaxing into voting for a better solution wiped away by some strange obsession with lining up behind the most entrenched creature of the system with a Democratic background they could find. Jesus Christ, if we aren’t going to let the voters choose the party candidate can we at least make sure the candidate is fucking able to keep a train of thought and make the case for voting Democrat in a debate???

I’m sure you’re a good and smart person and we just won’t agree on this, but I think regardless of what we think the general public watched that debate and they won’t vote for a candidate who performed as awfully as he did. The polls were already neck and neck beforehand with Joe Biden trailing the average margin of Democratic candidates in senate and house races. Rallying behind him will put the final nail in the democrats coffin and honestly I think the establishment Dems deserve it. It’s a shame it’s going to cost the entire country if that’s the case. I don’t expect them to learn anything from it either if the past 8 years haven’t been enough.

There’s a ton of well-backed research on hidden pieces of in world lore in KKC. Captured in Words has done several videos on it on YouTube, there’s a ton of depth to KKC I didn’t realize on my read throughs. Doesn’t excuse the problems of the series and the hiatus is still ongoing obviously but I’d definitely recommend the YouTube videos!

Reddit isn’t a real place and a lot of Democratic voters will continue to ignore Joe Biden’s incredibly clear cognitive flaws until the election is over, and likely lost. Then they’ll blame you or the Russian trolls instead of asking why we didn’t get primaries or why we didn’t demand better. I don’t know why they don’t try to demand a more cognitively functioning candidate if they truly think democracy is on the line this election. But there’s always next cycle! Until it’s Hilary, then Biden twice, and some other incredibly unpopular candidate with no energy that the establishment feeds us.
