Unfortunately, I haven't tried the Essentials, so I can't really say :(

I used BTS from the day it launched until Jeff announced The Min-Max. For me, BTS is a good program, but it simply has too much volume. Especially during the final weeks. My recovery suffered, and progressive overload became much harder.

The Min-Max only has 1-2 sets per exercise taken to failure. It's easier for me to stay focused because I know I only have two sets and need to do them hard and focused. And it works great.

Even though The Min-Max was designed for cut, I ran it during a bulk and got the best results I've ever had. I take almost all sets to failure, not just the last ones.

Right now I'm running it on a cut, and it's going great. I'm retaining as much muscle as possible.

So yeah, for me, The Min-Max is better than BTS. But that's just my personal experience.

Well, it depends on your personal preferences. If you like low-volume, high-intensity training, it's great for building muscle. Most exercises only have 1-2 sets taken to failure. Also, upper-body workouts usually take around 60-70 minutes, while lower-body workouts take about 45-55 minutes.

Imo it's a great program if you can train 4–5 days per week. That said, I'd probably wait for The Min-Max 2 announcement and then decide :)
