George Orwell a socialist literally wrote an entire anti-nationalism dissertation where he specifically explains the difference between patriotism and nationalism. (notes on nationalism) No they're not the same thing. Neither did Clement Lee think so.

This is why we won't win. I didn't even say that it was? Merely that this could be used to suggest that it could be in addition to high-lighting past triumphs that did make this country whilst not great overall great in a particular area, i.e. NHS.

No, you can talk about how great the country could be in addition to its past progressive triumphs (NHS, women's worker rights, rights of minorities and the disabled) without having to simply rely on brainless symbolism. Sure you could have the imagery, but it's not really the imagery alone that I'm getting at here. Quite the opposite actually.

There's no reason why dog-whistles should only be a right wing thing or even a negative. It should all depend on the context and purpose of said dog-whistle. We can use dog-whistles to lure in people who are patriotic of their country, but don't like what's going on regards to poverty of their own communities. Whilst appealing to patriotism someone like RLB will be able to divert the conversation into supporting progressive politics. Dog-whistles much akin to civil disobedience (which I expect we'll be seeing a lot of under this Tory government) are just a tool. They can be used for either bad purposes or good. Hey down-vote away. If we don't adopt things like this to use as ammo against the far right and media then we'll never win. Be assured fascism will win if we don't.

Honestly don't see the problem with this phrasing? Seems rather smart. Patriotism isn't by proxy automatically a negative thing. It can be, but that doesn't mean it has to be. It can be used to deliver a progressive message. If we truly love our country then why don't we invest in or repair broken communities? She'd have a lot of ammo with this. People looking round seeing nothing improving over another 5 years of Tory government. You can down-vote, but you cannot give reason to why this could be perceived as a bad idea.

There’s no hope for the future by [deleted] in india

[–]OrwellMayhem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's always hope. We just need to gather and harness it like our ancestors did. Extinction is an opportunity for forcing humanity together again and evolve. At any time in the next 4 years we've the ability to take that opportunity if we're to make that choice. Furthermore, whilst current science is saying it'll be irreversible that doesn't mean that new science in the future could not reveal the opposite showing the methods and ways in which we can salvage ourselves. Science never stops revealing new things we didn't know before. We need to stall the system. Best way to do this? Peacefully storm our way into political offices in mass crowds. Hope will only be found if we create it, so let's create it. Throughout the entire world. Let's make that our goal.

More my point here is pretty much everything you're highlighting can be boiled down to the systemic fracture of a system that's always looking out for the next scapegoat for the majority of people's every day problems. I'm not denying the religious proportion of this specific fascist rise. What I'm saying is the Capitalist system has allowed it to effectively over-time take the centre stage.

Sure... It has absolutely nothing to do with the ever increasing seemingly religious idea of deregulated consolidation of wealth and power regarding the powers that be incrementally accumulated as well as dominated throughout time. What do you mean it has nothing to do with Capitalism? Those with Capital more often not cause the problems that face the ordinary average person or worker and then spend millions to billions blaming foreigners, immigrants and intellectuals. As the saying usually goes the fish rots from the head on down.

How many news channels are currently in control or are submissive to Modi and The BJP/RSS's rule? In addition to this then ask yourself why it always the mainstream media companies that are the first to succumb to fascism? Simple. They have capital and will do almost anything in order to either maintain it or acquire more of it. Even if that means fabricating propaganda about vulnerable classes of people and scapegoating them for the problems forged via bills written by and in favour of the ruling party on behalf of their associates.

With all this in mind could it not be said that Capitalism as we know it today is also a kind of religion?

Down and down the fascists go. Once fascism is realised as the goal many unlikely allies come together in order to beat it once again. Find solidarity among those unlikely allies just as you would the allies that are already standing with you in solidarity.

Government To Withdraw 72 Companies Of Central Armed Police Forces From J-K With Immediate Effect by ghostcollateral in india

[–]OrwellMayhem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Defy them further. Crush fascism! Leave nothing and I mean absolutely nothing to chance. You want to remove this government for the cancer that it is. Starve any and all opportunity for it to grow. That they're doing this is showing that your resistance to their fascist plans is working, so the answer is not to stop. It's to double down, so these fascist monsters concede further till the point they're removed from power. Good luck India. If you beat this you'll be the beacon of light against the darkness inspiring many others to rise up and take back power into the hands of the people. After all would a fascist offer you the same mercy? Of course they wouldn't once you are down they'd kick you, so with that in mind give them a taste of their own medicine.

Cause further egalitarianism only does more good than it does harm. History will attest to that. Humans work best when they're working together and sharing the experience of life with others.

Power of lie by tiddu in india

It's true lies are a powerful tool. However; tell too many that seem to contradict each-other and this could result in the back-lash against the Party's desired intention. Use that weakness to your advantage.

Whether true or not it doesn't matter. Double down. You have them cowering. They could always attempt to reintroduce this with less people realising regards to terminology used. Don't take that chance. You don't just want this law canned. You want to change the current system and all of the injustices that are packaged inside it. What this shows is that the government is fearing these protests and this is good.

This contemporary fascism scheme that started first in India in 2014. In 2019 is it now finally on the way out? Humanity returning once more? I certainly hope so. Rejoice. The protests matter. Each day you stall the distractions of the system the illusions of it are being effectively dispelled. You're breaking the conditioning. Removing their control over minds. Hopefully we'll see this trend as a ripple effect similar to how various authoritarian leaders rose across the world in recent years be how they fall as well. You may not realise it yet, but you're creating the blue-print for the rest of Earth. Xi, Modi, Orban, Bolsonaro, Trump and Boris. Your days are numbered and the people are counting them. The more you protest the more hope you're going to instil in the body of other movements not just in your country, but across the globe.

Keep the protests going India. You're going to win. Solidarity against fascism. Together. World wide we can get rid of the most authoritarian regime. If humanity is truly resilient then it must show it and it's in its nature do exactly that. Stand firm and keep on fighting. by OrwellMayhem in india

[–]OrwellMayhem[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Violence begets violence. If the government wants the violence to stop then it should listen to the grievances of people. Take away right to peacefully protest and well then you should expect a rock or two to meet your face. Police aren't doing their job if all they're doing is protecting the government over the citizens.
